Rumours about a possible remaster of 2009’s Wolfenstein are starting to gather pace online, suggesting a possible shadow drop art QuakeCon 2026 this month.
As spotted by X user AnonimoGames and picked up by Idle Sloth, the game has seen its original release date removed from the Steam Database and has now been listed as Steam Deck verified. Wolfenstein 2009 is currently de-listed on all digital storefronts, so a remaster wouldn’t be entirely out of the question as a result.
Wolfenstein was developed by Raven Software and released in August 2009 for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, although sold poorly despite achieving critical acclaim. The game follows William B.J. Blazkowicz, who in this game retains his unshaven look from Return to Castle Wolfenstein and kitted out in civilian clobber, and is set in the fictional town of Isenstadt. The story sees the Nazis discovering a new power source in the form of the Veil, a dimension that can be manipulated by using crystals found in the aforementioned town, and once again it’s up to B.J. to stop them.
Keep in mind that a Wolfenstein remaster has not been announced yet, so take this as speculation for the time being.
