Ubisoft has confirmed that the planned console port of RTS expansion World in Conflict: Soviet Assault has been cancelled.
Developed by Massive Entertainment, the PS3/Xbox 360 release was originally scheduled to hit stores in fall 2008 while under publishing rights from Sierra Entertainment.
After parent company Vivendi merged with Activision, however, many of the company’s works were ultimately shelved, though World in Conflict was snapped up by Ubisoft after the firm purchased Massive.
Despite this, Ubisoft apparently isn’t keen on following up on Sierra’s original plans, telling IGN: "World of Conflict: Soviet Assault will be released for the PC later this month. A console version of World in Conflict is not planned for release at this time."
