Wuthering Waves takes place in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world following the Lament, a catastrophe that left humanity all but wiped out and left unknown beings known as Tacet Discords in its wake. Players control protagonist Rover, and recruit allies known as Resonators, which are split into four-star and five-star rarities, hence the comparisons to Genshin Impact.
Wuthering Waves employs a gacha system that includes banners known as Convenes, where Resonators and Weapons can be obtained, while the endgame content includes modes where characters can take part in a series of combat challenges.
