SEGA’s gangster-‘em-up Yakuza isn’t going into retirement anytime soon, but series head honcho Toshihiro Nagoshi has said that Yakuza 5 will be the last title for PlayStation 3.
Speaking with Dengeki PlayStation (translated by Gematsu), Nagoshi-san said the team has adopted a more pragmatic approach with the new Yakuza title, which allows for a more physical experience.
Furthermore, he teased that the developer wants to achieve new innovations with the game’s battle system.
Presumably we can expect the series to remain a PlayStation-exclusive brand, so we’ll see Yakuza 6 on PlayStation 4/Orbis.
Nagoshi-san hopes to show “something” at some point this year. Stay tuned.
