Square Enix has announced the resignation of company president Yoichi Wada.
Confirmation of Wada-san’s departure came following the release of the Japanese publisher’s revised financial forecast earlier today.
Yosuke Matsuda, representative director at Square Enix, is expected to take over from Wada in June 2013.
Said the company: “Square-Enix Holding Co Ltd. (the “Company”) expects that the Company’s representative directors will change. Such change is subject to a resolution by its 33rd annual general meeting of shareholders to be held in late June, 2013, and a resolution by its board of directors meeting to be held after the said meeting of shareholders.”
Wada-san joined Square Enix in April 2000, and was soon promoted to executive director and chief financial officer just two months later. He later became president of the company in December, and aided in reforming Square’s management system.
A number of key developments transpired under Wada-san’s rule, including the merging of Square with Enix and the purchasing of both Eidos and Taito.
