Yoshinori Kitase Promises Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Won’t Be Exclusive To PS6

Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 won’t be exclusive to the as-yet unannounced PS6, Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase has revealed during a chat with 4Gamer.

Kitase-san, who is the producer on the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, was asked “for this who have played FF7 Remake on PS4 and FF7 Rebirth on PS5, I think there may be some concern that the third work will be for the next generation console.”

In response, he chuckled before stating, “No you can rest assured about the next one,” and revealed development on FFVII Remake Part 3 began “right after Rebirth ended, in March – April 2024, so we’ve been developing it for about nine moths already.”

Kitase revealed during a separate interview with Famitsu this week that he is ‘very satisfied’ with development of FFVII Remake Part 3, which is currently on schedule and has had its story completed.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was originally released for the PS4 back in 2020, and eventually came to the PS5 as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth arrived first on PS5 in February 2024, and hits the PC today. Kitase stated back in April 2024 that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is likely to arrive in 2027, which would put it out in the same year the 1997 original celebrates its 30th anniversary.
