One of 2K Games' community officers has published a couple of details on the forthcoming PlayStation 3 BioShock patch. The developer has been working overtime since concerned PS3 users drew its attention to technical problems with the recent demo.

We're told those large blocky pixels on the Bouncer and Elite Bouncer variants of the Big Daddy are no more, and that the white bars which marred the opening cinematics have been eradicated. Hit the link for some fresh Xbox 360/PS3 comparison shots.

2K Games is still addressing the other bugs -- expect a comprehensive list of fixes soon. The patch will be made available post-release.

Bioshock splashes onto PS3 on October 17 in Europe and October 21 in North America.

these guys seem wishy-washy at one point they talk about how blu-ray did absolutely nothing for the game but now they're saying it has done wonders

@2 I agree, I seem to remember reading an article about how the PS3 did nothing special that the crashbox3fixme couldn't do. And they were making it look equal in terms of graphics. Now they priase the blu-ray and delive a product that is sub par on graphics and offer a patch ? How about geting it right the first time. I will still pick this game up but untill things are worked out.

    @ 2

Like I said before. Do not support Bioshock. $65 for an old game! 2k  must think PS3 owners are pretty desperate and stupid this holiday. Besides, there are to many new games coming out for the PS3 in the next 2 months to spend  your $65 on a port. At $29.99 this would've been a good purchase. Wait. Isn't that the price they are offering it now for the 360? OOooooh yeah!

@4 i agree with you there is way to much good video games coming out in the next two months...and ur rite why waste 65 dallas on a old game' i like bioshock but my money is on other great games

@4 - I'm not! I was lukewarm about this game anyway, and after playing the demo, I won't be buying it. It looks and plays like a 90's PC FPS, and has some PS2-quality graphics in places. Story didn't grab me either.

With the hacking of security bots and the 'body mods' (Plasmids), it reminded me of Deus Ex on the PC... only not as good.

There are at least 10 games out on PS3 that I want between now and the end of the year - BioShock is not one of them.

2K did the same with Civ:Rev (and GTA IV) - rushed a game out with flaws that needed some serious patching down the track.  I don't think it's very bright, and has definitely pushed me away from 2K, particularly at time of release (I'll still pick up Bioshock and the next GTA, and definitely the next Civ, but I think I'll wait until they've 'fixed' whatever problems ship with the games first!)

these guys seem wishy-washy at one point they talk about how blu-ray did absolutely nothing for the game but now they're saying it has done wonders--

@2: The question is, "Who would you rather piss off?" I mean, they are trying to keep both fanbases happy so they can't say Blu Ray made a difference because it alienates Xbox users. That being said, the cat is already out of the bag and Blu Ray DID make a difference in the improved textures.

YES! Thanks for the patch 2K - I was sincerely hoping for this after what I read about the BigDaddy textures...
