AM2 hints at online patch for Virtua Fighter 5

Owners of the PlayStation 3 version of the latest iteration in the classic fighting series, Virtua Fighter, felt shafted when it was announced that the Xbox 360 port of the title would have online functionality. However, TVG's interview with AM2 Producer Tohru Murayama at GC'07 provided a glimmer of hope for early adopters.

Murayama understood the unfortunate situation for Virtua Fighter PS3 owners:

"In the case of PlayStation 3, our first priority was to convert Virtua Fighter 5 from the arcade onto [the PS3] as soon as possible," he told the site. "To achieve that purpose we had to give up the development of the online mode -- we'd love to try if there was time and the budget but unfortunately, we had to give up on that idea. AM2 are sorry to PS3 users -- a lot of people say that it is one of the missing things from the version."

When asked if AM2 could implement a patch to solve the issue, Murayama responded, "no doubt."

It is now that the PlayStation community needs to speak up for what it wants. So start your petitions, send your e-mails and do whatever it takes (within reason) to make your desires clear.

I think that the fact that you can find new copies of VF5 on the shelves for 19.99 is talking loud enough. No one is going to buy that crap UNTIL there is online play. That goes for Virtua Tennis too!!

now saint seya hit that nail on the head! I sort of think it's too late for an added online patch for v5. I mean it'll prolly be cool and all but most folks have either traded it in already (like me), beat it and or all but forgot about this game. Why did'nt they reveal this as some future plan for the game instead of allowing us to be miserable about it and then they say "oh well you know we can develop an online patch for V5." Just playing monkey see onkey do now that T5 DR is online. It really would've been nice and since they didn't even hint to a online anything, that game is prolly stacked out on the used section at your local gamestop. Now i had VT too I thought it was great and fun to play, but online it would've been spectacular for that. Why oh why do they keep hitting and missing with all these would- be great titles. However, i just may concede and go back out and grab VT again if they'll put that one online. Holla.

I've amost practically given up on that game but for people who still play it that would be great, I suggest you go bombard the official Playstation Blog and the Playstation.com forums and demand this it's the only play worth making. Someone has probably aready started a web petition but the PSU mods usualy delete the threads that refer to them so you'll have to find it on your own.
