Activision and Treyarch have confirmed that the highly anticipated FPS Call of Duty: World at War will be released across North America on November 11, 2008.

Call of Duty: World at War returns to the familiar World War II setting depicted in the first three titles of the critically acclaimed FPS series, with the game set predominantly in the Pacific theatre and Eastern front of the conflict.

From what we’ve seen the game appears to be shaping up rather nicely, though it remains to be seen whether or not it has the stones to top Infinity Ward’s decidedly brilliant Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Its gonna be very up hill for Treyarch to top Call of Duty 4. It would be shamefull for them that a game already 1 year released, would be superior to their new product.

Its hard to compare WWII games with modern/sci-fi ones. but I heard that 5 kicks butt and we will dig the flame throwers.

wow...another nazi killer to add to the already-too-massive pile...

seriously, if it's not set in the middle east or in space, it's a nazi killer.

Do you guys really want another one?

I try to live by purchasing 1 new game a month. Sorry Activision, but I aleady pre-ordered the collector/special/limited edition of R-2 for my November game. In fact, I'm pretty much booked up for the next few months, but I wouldn't get this anyway since it's a port.

I think call of duty 4 success had to do with the online and where the game took place but now 5 is going back to WWII and i dont know about you guys but Im sick of WWII games.

i agree with 18 even though i don't have any WWII games, they're just boring and old. But i love 4 so i might want this and it would be one of the best shooters around anyway if i wanted a good game, but there are a lot of other good games coming out soooooooooooo

This could be better than cod3 but I doubt it will get the same hype that cod4 got. I really don't think I'll buy it because there will be far better fps games to buy, like far cry 2 and resistance 2!

@ 14, Your a moron, it's not a Nazi killer. It's a Jap killer. They understood "Kraut, and NAZI!" Were old. SO they made Jap. It's based off the engine of C0d4. The 2nd COD hooked me. Both are great developers. Your a moron.

Some people seems to be confused....I couldn't careless if this game is game of the year...I just don't do WWII shooters. Thats why the only COD i've ever bought was COD4...not becuse its the best COD (thats a bonus), but because it was a modern day shooter. So I am gonna have to go ahead and say no to this......yeah...NO!

    EU release date?

  30. CONFL1CT--01

    • 5:14pm BST - September 6th, 2008

So as usual EU are left hanging !!! Got to say Im looking forwards to this title, I been wanting a desent bit of Jungle warfair for a long time now, as much as I love COD4 I am getting tired of the middle east and all the same old sand stone buildings. Cant wait to go up against them sneeking cunning little Japs. Bit of a shame there wont be no M4's, MP5's, G36's or Glocks, and numerouse other modern weapons (to many to list at once), But a gun is a gun, and as long as it shoots bullets out the end I guess it will do. Does any one know if youll be able to use katanas taken from the dead. Strap one of them bad boyz to the end of ya M1, and let the good times roll !!! ;)
