Namco Bandai has confirmed that its heavily anime-inspired PlayStation 3 slash-em-up, Afro Samurai, will be published by Atari in Europe next year. If you don’t think this is a Very, Very Good Thing, you obviously haven’t watched this trailer.
Based on Takashi Okazaki’s manga series (televised in 2007) Afro Samurai is your classic Japanese tale of revenge in third person action form. Marvel at the sumptuous hand-inked visuals. Goggle at the elegantly bloody sword techniques, dismemberments and counters. Get down to a bouncy hip hop score from the RZA "of Wu Tang Clan fame."
Afro himself is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson, who also did the TV series. Which bags the game an automatic 9/10 in our book.
You can expect it in North America on January 27.
