Afro Samurai confirmed for European release

Namco Bandai has confirmed that its heavily anime-inspired PlayStation 3 slash-em-up, Afro Samurai, will be published by Atari in Europe next year. If you don't think this is a Very, Very Good Thing, you obviously haven't watched this trailer.


Based on Takashi Okazaki's manga series (televised in 2007) Afro Samurai is your classic Japanese tale of revenge in third person action form. Marvel at the sumptuous hand-inked visuals. Goggle at the elegantly bloody sword techniques, dismemberments and counters. Get down to a bouncy hip hop score from the RZA "of Wu Tang Clan fame."

Afro himself is voiced by Samuel L. Jackson, who also did the TV series. Which bags the game an automatic 9/10 in our book.

You can expect it in North America on January 27.

    Because it's also coming out on Xbox 360. Nobody said the game was an exclusive.

     Something its weird with psu latly to much xbox advertising on psu.. I'm thinking on remove it from my bookmarks.

    psn id: gingo.... @tretormen - you sir are a loser, just because a site has advertising for a certain company even though its a playstation site, you take funding from anywhere possible, its not as if they are goin to get much sales from it anyway since mostly ps3 owners comes here

    Hey guys. Samuel L. Jackson isn't actually afro samurai himself but rather a dude with a large gray afro who follows afro samurai :P afro samurai just barely talks himself which is why you hear samuel throughout the trailer :)

    @ staude: No, he does both. Afro is his main character (even though he hardly talks), but he also does Ninja Ninja.

    Too bad this isn't exclusive, I agree with Gingo that when you run a free site like this you have to take money from whoever is willing to pay for ads, but I must reiterate my exteme distaste with the way things are going visa vi that every multi-plat gets the XBOX logo at the end, and if the PS3 logo is shown at all, it is deliberately obscured, and the boxart is always 90% covered by the Xbox boxart. What do you think my friends?

    lol noticed a visual glitch around 2/3rds through the trailer when afro's sword goes through his leg >< anyways enough on being negative, it looks kick ass, but i'll have to see some kinda review on it. There's already too many things coming out from now to february for me to be spending money on a maybe good game ><
