Namco Bandai has announced that its upcoming PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 title Afro Samurai has been delayed until January 2009.

The title was previously scheduled for release in fall of this year; however, following the delay, the hack and slash anime adaptation will now hit shelves on January 27, 2009.

Co-produced by Samuel L. Jackson, who also provides the voice of the game’s protagonist, Afro Samurai is an action-based videogame with direct emphasis on strategic swordplay, and follows Afro’s attempts to track down the men responsible for murdering his father.

Stay tuned for more information on the game as it becomes available.

    wow..my guess is none of you have culture..none the less have a sense of mixed culture. i myself WILL be giving this game a try since i loved the anime, the story and characters were strong in the show, also for an anime the swordplay and gore was top of the line, Sorry bleach fans but this anime, with its first season only 5 episodes, blew anime's like bleach out of the water. Graphics are never the showcase for an anime..and i reall hope those who said that this game looks crap also think the same for the new PoP cause well..its not much diff put aside a few extra textures and with Sam L. Jackson producing and staring? my god some of you are pathetic. i bet some just read the negative post above and agreed, not even knowing ANYTHINg of the game or anime, makes me sick

    @Gameware336

    I have to agree with you all the way. Some of you can't call yourself gamers if you don't try it all. saying things like crap game and it will fail without trying it for yourself is just crazy. you would buy a port but won't try anything else. Atleast the person who made the first post said that he would look into it! And you sometimes wonder why we lose so many games, because dev read and they think tat it won't sell on our system because that are not the big name dev's. Some of you need to check yourself.

     Afro Samurai took me back to the good old days of Anime / Japanimation.

    The Action and Gore they did not shy away from. Kids today are so used to watered down TV show Anime here in the states like Naruto or Bleach or the ever so annoying INUYASHA.

    please, these shows have turned me away from anime all together.

    rent Crying Freeman, or Wicked City or even Akira, the classics and you'll see a big difference. can't forget about the original GitS, this one reminds me sorta of Ninja Scroll.

    back on topic, i'll be checking this game out.

    What the F, PSU i can't even say Ghost in the S*** since when is SHE#L a banned word?

    retarded

    I've been watching the 1st seaon on PSN and will pick this game up when it comes out. They showed footage of it on Qore and it looks like the game is going to be awesome.  Besides you can't go wrong with Samuel L. Jackson.

    @3

    Why?  Racist.

    Anyway, ever since I saw this on Qore, I thought it looked exceptional.  I've never seen the cartoon, which I'm sure surprises no one.  I mean, it's called Afro Samurai.  You lose 89% of the American audience right there, like Mr. #3.  But it looks interesting as heck as a game.

    And about graphics, the cell-shading thing is PERFECT for anime.  WHY ARE YOU KIDS SO INTOLERANT FOR ANYTHING THAT LOOKS ANIMATED?!  Please answer that, somebody.  Everytime any game is made with any character (ie. "cartoony" like The Agency, Warhawk, Team Fortress, any GTA but 4, etc.) you graphics snobs turn your noses up.  Watch Qore episode #1 AS looks incredible.  There are no graphics problems there.  Afro Samurai shouldn't look like Call of Duty 4 you idiots!  It should look like Afro Samurai, shouldn't it?
