Recently, PSU reported that online retailer Amazon.co.uk was offering the PlayStation 3 titles LAIR and Folklore for the reduced price of GBP 14.99 each.
Very impressive prices for the featured dragon action adventure and majestic journey through a fantasy world in Folklore, the two games skyrocketed to Amazon's top buy list in a matter of minutes and were quickly sold out.
However, much to the regret of consumers who sought to reap the advantage of this deal, Amazon.co.uk has now cancelled the offer in the form of the following e-mail:
"Dear Customer
We are writing to inform you that the price for the following item was
displayed incorrectly at the time you placed the above referenced
order:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Folklore (PS3)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our
website, pricing errors can occasionally occur.
In our Pricing and Availability Policy (see
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=1040614),
we state that where an item's correct price is higher than our stated
price, we will cancel the order and notify you of that cancellation.
Your order has now been cancelled. If you still wish to purchase this
item, please place a new order online which will be charged at the
correct price, when we dispatch it to you.
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by
this error, and rest assured that we will continue to make every effort
to maintain the accuracy of all prices on our site.
We look forward to serving you again in the future.
Warmest regards,
Amazon.co.uk "
The company has since re-evaluated its pricing strategy for both titles and they are now available for pre-order at GBP 34.99 each. However, with many consumers left disappointed at Amazon’s blunder, we at PSU can only offer our condolences for what should have been a rudimentary order process.
Folklore is due to ship in Europe from October 12, with Lair following on October 19.

Hmmmm this shouldn't be allowed, under the consumer rights act (uk) i think it actually states that if an item has been incorrectly advertised at a lower price than what it should be then the customer can buy it at that price, amazon know this thats why they added there link to show that they can just cancel on the customer, if anyone has actually pre ordered this game or bought it, look up on the net about your rights............and im sure you can get the game rather than your money back.

There's no reason whatsoever that this could or would damage PS3 - it's entirely an Amazon.co.uk error. As I mentioned previously, HMV made a similar mistake with PES a few years ago, and did honour the low price - even if they restricted it to one copy per customer. While it is understandable, it's a shame Amazon couldn't do the same. Several people on the official PlayStation forums actually e-mailed Amzon to query the price, and received a reply stating that the £14.95 price was correct.

ok guys done some digging, it is a criminal offence what amazon have done, by putting a lower priced cost and then changing it, anyone who has bought any of these games need to write a letter of disgust! lol and explain to amazon your anger, and tell them that you want it at this price.
trading standards have already been called and are now aware of this situation.......fight back people!!!!!

Ick, what a mess. But, to order from Amazon you have to agree to their terms and conditions, and the order cancellation via incorrect pricing is one of those conditions. It could be worse: They could follow through with your order, but hit your bank account again for the price difference without providing notice, which is positively illegal.

amazon is not breaking any laws.....no one bought the games.....they only PRE-ORDERED. that is not the same thing....they were never charged so you are not out any money. gosh...people always looking to scam.....something for nothing....grow up. just like when companies accidentally run an ad with a mistake there is nothing you can do about it. it was not intentional.
