Army of Two delayed till 2008

Today Electronic Arts announced that they will be delaying Army of Two until next year to let the development team put finishing touches on the game.

"Game quality is our top priority. Army of Two has potential to become a lasting EA franchise -- so getting the first title right is essential," said President of the EA Games Label. "The team at EA Montreal thinks that more time for polish will make the game truly great. We're going to trust the team and give Army of Two a few more months in the studio. Army of Two will ship in first quarter of calendar 08."

If you recall, EA has stated in the past that they want to ship Army of Two when it's perfect. In July, lead designer Chris Ferriera stated, "We want the first game to be perfect, because if we launch an IP and it isn't what we want to make and isn't made to the right quality level, then the future for the franchise doesn't exist. We want to really build something strong."

This suggests that EA plans to release at least one sequel, something that is uncommon with the company's franchises.

Yah.. i think they are just taking extra time to do a couple small things and plus all the other games releasing. Well as long as it comes out good the wait is worth it.

Army of two is officially a dead game. People were barely looking foward to this game and now getting pushed back, the worst possible thing to happen aside from getting cancelled will absilutly destroy hype for this game.

BOOOOO! Typical EA story. I hope it all works out though, I want this game.

Well, wait a second....was it difficulties programming the PS3, or was it difficulties fitting the game on a DVD for the Xbox 360 that REALLY caused this delay? Just glad they're announcing a "delay" and not making some bogus reason for it!

You think EA is finally getting it together to release a GOOD game to us?  I mean Godfather wasnt bad, in fact I still play it, was quite disappointed with EA Sports' franchises as of late.

Why am I not surprised to see another delay by EA. (Hey that rhymes) They are nothing more than incompetent.

    • 11:20pm BST - October 22nd, 2007

I agree with NY Young...How can anyone be shocked that EA delayed another game. Is this an exclusive? If it is, I really not surprised. They're in the Gates pocket. If it was that they were worried about R&C, COD4, or Haze, they don't need to wait til the next year. Just wait 'til Dec to release. Have it out for the holidays. Game developers have it out for the PS3 cause they pushed the envelope and are making it kind of hard to create for it. Babies.

Is is just me or is about 50% (at least) of the games that came out/ are coming out were/are delayed..??

    • 12:14am BST - October 23rd, 2007

i heard it was delayed like 2 months ago.

plus im pretty sure EA tries to squeeze every half-a$sed sequel out of every francise they own.

I hope that every new release that comes out for the PS3 doesn't get delayed all the time.  Lets be honest guys, how many first person shooters do we need?! It seem thats all there is for the PS3 console.

I'm glad EA is actually putting effort into this game, but it's hardly intelligent to push back a game into early 08 for marketing reason.  Now, I'm not saying that was the reason this game got pushed back, but c'mon, early 08 is looking to be more like a November to me.  Push Christmas back to Easter and have a double celebration, for your "God" and the PS community.

Well EA can make some pretty bad games and have in the past but ima really looking forward to Army Of Two. I'm glad it got delayed. Means they can actually try and make a good game lol.

This needed to be delayed CoD4 and Haze has my money this month anyway. Somehow gotta find some more for Uncharted and Assassin's Creed but meh. Hopefully Warhawk and Resitance online can hold me off for just under another month. I really need a new shooting online game now lol. Still ima adventure gamer at heart but depending on reviews to which game i will buy out of AC and HAZ3.

Back on subject. Really hoping EA doesn't stuff this one up. Loving the trailers but just gotta wander cause of EA. Better not be a crappy port either.
