Atari dates PS3 Alone in the Dark for Europe

Atari has chased down the errant PlayStation 3 version of Alone in the Dark - subtitled "Inferno" - and slapped it with a sticker marked "European release on November 14".
Good news for those of us who enjoy taping aerosol cans to stuff for the purposes of combat experimentation, or plunging bits of fragmentable wood into realistically contagious fire.
Alone in the Dark attracted middling-to-desperate scores when it chewed up the Xbox 360 in May, but Inferno benefits from rejigged controls, a thorough technical delousing and a lower difficulty threshold. It still doesn't sound essential, if we're honest - and is unlikely to oust Dead Space, Silent Hill Homecoming or SIREN: Blood Curse from your disc drive - but there may yet be some meat on this bone.
Thanks for doing the legwork, Eurogamer.

I'd say give the demo a try. I was very impressed when I first started playing it, but the combat needs some work. The graphics were decent, but the controls were bad.

I don't think I am gonna pick this one up. Probably will just rent it to try the whole game. The demo sucked big time control-wise in my honest opinion. I was hoping the control scheme was one of their improvements from the 360 version but I guess that was too much work. Definitely not worth 60$ at this point in time. I personally love survival horror games; but, this is a pass.

^ its not coming for $60, but $50, but yeah I might pick it up (even used) for no more than $30. Control-wise, having played both versions, I can honestly say PS3 has seen some definite improvements. I finally finished the demo, and driving part was most bothersome still, but it took me less tries to finish it now: meaning driving is bearable this time. There's no denial that the game has very good graphics, sound fx (music sometimes seems misplaced), and innovative elements. It has some small graphical glitches, of course its a demo, and the voice acting sucks a bit. Swearing seems forced as though to make it more mature but honestly, it doesn't seem well placed either.
Any way, really, demo was fun. The driving part is what no games ever incorporated like AITD did, as far as I have seen. Though, those who don't play driving games might find it frustrating at times but in all honesty its a cool sequence, everyting coming down and feeling of total chaos, pretty good. Give the game a try, its worth the rent than most rubbish games that get passed as a good rental.
