According to Bioshock senior producer Melissa Miller, the PS3 version of Bioshock will only meet the same visual quality of that seen in Xbox 360 version.
“We’re looking to match the quality of the original version,” Miller commented. “We want to make sure that the water is just as great, and I think you can see from the demonstration, that it looks no different from the 360 version.”
One of our contributing editors, Dave Wales, got some hands-on time with the title at this year's E3, and he assured me otherwise.
"One of the very first things you’ll notice within BioShock [PS3] is that all anti-aliasing issues are now gone. There were absolutely no edging issues or jaggedness to any portions of what was displayed on screen," said Wales. "I almost felt like I was staring at a redesigned title."
So, who to believe, the game's producer or a co-worker? I have to trust Dave with this one.
The PS3 version of the Bioshock has been confirmed to include all original content from the Xbox 360 and PC versions as well as all patches and DLC. In addition, the PS3 version will include its own exclusive content in the form of "Challenge Rooms" and a ridiculously challenging 'survivor' difficulty.
Bioshock on the PlayStation 3 is set to release this October.

psn id: gingo... i'm going to go along with Dave on this one since he has played the original on the 360 and says there is quite a large difference and the developer will just be saying that so that people dont moan about it being worse than the 360 version
thats good i might get this game
if you're going to port the game, your aim should always be to try and match a previous version. That's just logic. But if you can make it better you owe it not only to your customers but also to your product to do all you can to make it sell.
If they back down from making it better on PS3 out of some weird need to make the game "the same" when they could make it "better" then they're fools and the game should suffer for it, but if it SHOULD be better if they can because they want more money.
Way to overachieve there 2K. A whole year later and you can't give us PS3 owners a little something to look forward to? Conspiracy theory alert: If I had to guess I'd say that they don't want to piss of MS by making the game better on a rival console. No need to do anything extra for Sony right? We should just be lucky to get the game let alone a version that "could" look better than the 360 version. I think it's almost a slap in the face that they didn't at least go back and refine the visuals or do something to take advantage of the Blu-ray format. Lie to me if necessary but to just say that they're making sure it looks the same as the 360 after more than a year is just lazy. It's not like they have anything else to worry about like multiplayer or a ton of extras. Anyway, I may still get it but I'm 100% sold yet.
That's good. No 360 owner complains and the field's fair. No "BIOSHUCK IS BETTAR ON TEH PS-TREE!, XBUX 3SUCKY SUCKS SUCKS!!!". - It's very fair of 2k and I support that movement to match the 360's visual integrity instead of surpassing it. Thats' what all multiplatform games should be like.
the standards have changed. they better have been upped.
The way I see it. MS has everyone bought to shut their mouths and or let on that that 360 has the edge in what ever is in question.
I agree that M$ was bad for gaming, I said it when they first entered the industry that they were a distablizing force thatwas going to hurt more than help.
On the other hand untill we know if they were just trying to say that you shouldnt expect te PS3 version to be WORSE, thenwe can't really say this is perticularly an M$ plot.
Again, they could just be trying to say that, at the very LEAST, the PS3 version will look AS good as what has come before, A guarentee that it wouldnt be WORSE so to speak,
@FantasyStar what do you mean fair i could see if the 360 version and ps3 version were released at the same time but if you can make the game better then by all means make it better. You shouldnt have to hold one version back over the other that's not fair.
If you guys were really interested in this title than most everyone has already played it on the PC or 360. No reason to add another title to the growing list of crappy PS3 ports.
Maybe for some trophies or some replay value in exclusive ps3 format? Already tore this up on the PC awhile back, really enjoyed this game alot.
Its about time. This will probably be a contender again for GOTY since it has been improved and has extra content.
Low-res and a little blury plus run a little slow.. I take it is the go for this game then?
even if the graphics are the same this game has to be played! i loved it on the 360 and advise anyone who has not played it to do so, also looks like the ps3 version will be the best out. an extra year in development, extra content, a must buy game!
Hmm.. still not sure to weather on buying this game or not.
Bioshock or Fallout 3 is a decider for me.
I'll go with Dave on this one...can't wait to play the game.
yeah like virtual fighter 5....how you can you put out a game one year later without putting a shine on it..cmon now.....stupid producers
Dave all the way for me
@ 5 you support the movement to match the 360 version visuals instead and not to surpass it,...is there something wrong with you, its in everbodies nature to have there console version looking better and after a year of it being out and the ps3 power they should really of made it with better graphics.today its just not on to say we made both versions of the game the same, they added some extra content for uz so i might buy this one
i will like to read the review when the game is released.
Still waiting for the PS3 to prove it CAN surpass the 360 in graphics. Apparently, most third party companies don't think so as you always hear them say things like "The ps3 version will be as good as the 360 or identical to the 360" They make it sound like the PS3 is a lesser machine and they have to max it out just to match the 360. After two years, people will start to believe them.
Not sure I believe either of you. I thought the Xbox 360 version had great anti aliasing so if Dave didn't notice aliasing for the PS3 version than theiy should be equal. The frame rate and lighting will have to be comparable too so we'll have to wait for the launch before comparing.
i agree with gingo
i agree with gingo
when you talk like Dave, then you know that its the same game just ported. That mean all that talk about this and that is bull. You have all the time with all this power and you really didnt do anything. You have a cell and 50 gig disc and a system that you can say hey, when didnt have all this with xbox..... lets get to work. But NO, you said lets get it the same and port and make more money off of people. Sucky dev's tring to make more money off of people. I think I'll pass.

Well Oblivion certainly looked and ran better on PS3 so im sure that will be the case here
@FantasyStar, what you just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this page is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The graphics definitely have to have some improvement. There's no way Sony would just release it with the "same" graphics as 360.
