CCP at work on EVE Online FPS?

According to Eurogamer, Icelandic developer and community gaming pioneer CCP may be at work on a first-person shooter set in the EVE Online universe.

A trailer has apparently been screened to select sites (not us, boo hoo), which depicts Halo-esque firefights on an Earth-like planet with architecture reminiscent of the bottomless outer space MMO. Third-person vehicle control also makes an appearance.

No other features were revealed, but we would expect the EVE FPS, should it materialise, to include a hefty online component.

Given talk from CCP bigwigs Hilmar Petursson and Nathan Richardsson of a "console strategy," it seems likely the project may warp to one or both of the high definition boxes. Elsewhere in the presentation, a slide was shown which mentioned Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

CCP's standing as a creator of PC MMOs is above reproof, of course, but it remains to be seen how well their talents can transfer to other genres and formats. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one, so stay tuned for further information as it becomes available.

A mate of mine had EVE: online for his PC, but it was a monthly pay subscription, i wonder if this new FPS would be pay ?, take a look at COD6 or whatever i think they want to start charging to play that too.

I would like to  see a game like EVE: Online for the PS3 or any console, flying ships, combat walking around space stations, chatting to people on the PSN who are also playing, BUT FREE
