COD: World at War beta to be Xbox 360 and PC only

Sorry PS3 gamers, but according to Treyarch and the people at Activision, the upcoming online multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: World at War will be for Xbox 360 and PC owners only.
For those of you who remember, Infinity Ward pulled a similar move last year by hosting the Call of Duty 4 beta only on the Xbox 360. After speaking with a Activision representative, I was told that the reasoning behind doing an Xbox 360 and PC beta was primarily due to increased server and connectivity data.
"We are running the beta only on the Xbox 360 and PC," said the representative. He continued then to point out that most betas on the PS3 are run by first party anyways, and if Treyarch runs their testing on the Xbox 360 and PC they acquire more data on servers and connectivity.
Personally, I think that it's imperative to sufficiently test all networks a game will be running on, and that includes the PlayStation Network. Yes, if you were to run the beta solely on the PlayStation 3, you'd acquire less data than a 360 beta, but why not have a beta span multiple platforms? Is it that much more work?
What do you think about this debacle? Let us know in the comments section below.

So pretty much thier saying that......... a beta for PS3 isn't neccessary? Wasn't there some issues with Cod4? I understand not having a beta, but that explanation sounded pretty much like "Instead of buying our stuff, support First party titles, because we can't be bothered."

Ha, this just reminds of that Treyarch is making the game instead of Infinity Ward.. At least Infinity Ward knows what they are doing.

The way they see it ( or at least the way i get it: )
"If we do the 360 beta only and get ti right, we'll just do that stuff on the PS3*
OR
"Aww screw it, we're too lazY"
Most likely its the first case :P
EDIT: They REALLY need to knock it out of the park to make me consider getting it over SOCOM and Resistance 2. I dont have much money as it is!

Considering that CoD4 on the PS3 had the worst servers EVER, you'd think they'll do something about it this time around...

True enough call of duty is always a great games but with the puting it on xbox and pc shows they are still not harnessing the call of duty title to its true potential. once again ps3 has 3 times the processing power to add better detail smother gameplay and extra action through out the game. Call of duty 5 is not a game im investing in. once they realize the true potential it would have with ps3 ill find my wallets potential to pony up for a 60 dollar game. KILLZONE RESISTANCE here i come.

Look at Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and all the probs PS3 players had with it on launch. Then the dev's complain about not selling enough units on the PS3. If your gonna port it, test it on all platforms. Simple as that.

I don't think this upcoming title is going to be all that good anyways I have seen the previews and was not all that impressed and as far as these developers continue to choose 360 as the lead platform we will continue to see this type of trend.

I think it's bs. It seems more and more developers are testing their games on 360 rather than ps3, although if they tested it on both, it would make players from both systems happy and they would acquire more data then just doing it on the 360 and pc.

@9 No there were no PSN issues with 4. It all had to do with volume. Too many people. Easy fix. More servers. Could it be the PSN is just more stable? We all know about XBlive...

LBP beta is the only one I care about. I can wait to play COD5. Now if they had set it in Vietnam, then I might want the Beta. I've played W.W.II games before, so it's not gonna be something I haven't already seen a dirty dozen times before.

Ok, I develop software, that's not video games but some of the concepts and rules apply. This guy killed CoD5 for me, when we develop for various OS we gotta test on all of them to bring all users the same quality, not testing on PS3 it's the most unprofessional thing I have heard from a developer. BTW I don't know how this guys can live knowing Infinity made one CoD and it's simply the best one in the series.

Umm, they arent a M$ first party so that argument doesn't hold water. I say they got a kickback.

This dosent really bother me, i have a 360, though i would rather play it on my ps3 cause thats the console i will be getting it on. The beta isnt even hard to get into all you have to do is be a member on the cod site.

SONY have the best 1st party line up this holiday season, so invest in1st party come Christmas you wont regret it. I have a feeling that COD 5 wont live up to expectations, InfinityWard set a very high bar with COD 4. As for me, I only buy SONY 1st and some 2nd party games now-a-days, 3rd party sucks bad now so stay away from them.
