COD4 PS3 map pack dated for US, Europe

Infinity Ward has confirmed that the Variety Map Pack for the PlayStation 3 version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be available in North America on April 24, followed by a European release on May 1.
"I have some great PS3 news for everyone! We have hammered out the details for the upcoming DLC and will be releasing the new Variety Map Pack on PS3 in North America on Thursday, April 24,” reads a post on the official Call of Duty message board.
“In addition, we're also really excited that the Map Pack passed Sony Europe certification and will be propped on the PlayStation Network on May 1.”
In addition, the company also revealed plans for a Double XP initiative to begin on April 25, along with the opportunity to play against various members of the development team.
"To celebrate the release of both map packs we will be hosting a Double XP weekend for North America from 12:01 AM PDT on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. North American players will be able to play the new maps against members of the Infinity Ward team on Friday, April 25 from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.”
“We'll also be hosting another special Double XP and Play With Devs event for our worldwide / European users specifically. For our European fans, we will have a Double XP weekend beginning at 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, May 2 and concluding at 11:59 PM GMT on Sunday, May 4. You will also get a chance to play the new maps against the IW team on Friday, May 2 from 7 PM GMT to 10 PM GMT. That way you guys aren't left out due to conflicting time zones."

Well. They said it was coming out "late April" and how about that...it is (in the U.S.).

Anyway, I wonder whether or not it's worth it as well. I love GT5 online (got it yesterday), and I'm also a part of the MGS4 beta. Before, my varied tastes in gaming (everything from Eye of Judgement to COD4 to MLB The show 08) got me through the drought. Now that all this stuff is being released, I need 30 hour days. Good problem to have I guess.

yep nice one SCEE ill definetly not be getting the map pack for the soul reason ill be raging to get as many wanted stars on GTA IV and driving aroud like a lounitic.....as i said sony u shud of persuaded rockstar to make it exclusive and rockstar as long u dont work with microsoft with any of GTA series than ill be happy...

Even if I had CoD4, I wouldn't bother. It's hard to care when you pay the same amount for something your rival got a month ago.

i'm going to laugh my butt off when the devs get online and can't finish a map because the host keeps leaving. lol. alot of good having a map pack will do us when we can't even finish a map....and the ones that we do play lag out (the bog) or turn into frag fests (shipment). should be fun listening to them try to explain why they will release new maps for a broken game.

ya kno wot u ppl are goin on like ppl only play 1 game! so wot if gta is comin out! it doesnt mean tht they wont get money for the maps nor a drop in sales! i mean how much do u think the maps are gonna cost?! £30-£40 (dunno the equivilent in dollars)?? pfff get both and play both! cod4 is amazin online and addons are so welcome and gta is gonna b legend! 2 legend things! its not too much for 1 person to handle

Like I said b4. Its little to. it might be arund the winter b4 ppl star to download the maps. to many games are starting to come out and now like I said it will be 1.5mil rather then 3 mil ppl downloading them( just random numbers)

That's right after GTA IV release date so I'll be to busy playing that to get the extra maps mabye when i finish beat GTA I'll download it ( The following month or two) Infinty Ward this what u get for loving XBOX so much.

like they say "better late than never", but for real they should of gotten these maps out faster, releasing it after gta4 is simply a BIG mistake abit like shooting yourself in the foot, lol!
