Call of Duty 5 WWII-bound

Treyarch, the development team responsible for the decent Call of Duty 3, has clearly already spearheaded development on its next project, Call of Duty 5. The recently released Call of Duty 4 brought modern warfare to the table, but apparently Treyarch has eschewed the idea of emulating the awe-inspiring title. Instead, they are vying once again to create a WWII shooter, if a job ad on their website is accurate.

They're searching for a level builder who has “working experience with First-Person Shooter or Third-Person Shooter genres,” adding that “if you’re a fan of World War II shooters, then even better!”

We're fairly positive that 99% of people will not be pleased by this news - primarily due to the awesomeness that emanated from every megabyte of COD4.

We'll let you know if the listing does indeed imply what it seems to.

For the love of God, leave WWII to rest !!! and I agree with GR3G0444, A Vietnam CoD would be good. I dont care if they made it looked better then Gears of War. We dont want WWII.

vietnam war game on console, that's a good idea, especially if you get to play both sides. it's a shame for call of duty, personally cod4 is the only one i brought and i'll deffinatly wont be buying cod5, the only ww2 game i want to buy is the sequal to "resistance fom" for me this is the only ww2 game worth to buy on ps3, all the others suçk§ big time!

I personally don't think it'll be based on a WWII scenario.  The ad may just be suggesting something about WWII but not necessarily build a game based on that war! Just some historical references, maybe?!? We'll have to wait and see...early next year! (for more info that is).

wtf no more choppers and airstrikes and hiding out in the wood wearing awesome camo with a great sniper no more c4 or claymores man looks like activision did the wrong move by giving this to treyarch and now there is no more fun assault rifles, COD 3 wasnt great and COD 4 was a general and cod 3 a private 1st class not even, and now we wont do fun things with c4 and claymores man leave WWII to brothers in arms and medal of honor, lots of games were WWII but they realized they wasted their time on WWII and moved on to the modern era with louder guns and more crazier things lets hope that they change their minds by now since it does say that this was posted on december 9

Why would you want a WWI shooter.  You do realize that most of the war consisted of trench warfare, right?  How fun would it be to sit in a trench and fire at enemies in the other trench for most of the game?  That sounds real fun.

COD is known for a new game coming out every year. If this game is going to be any good I think they have to get away from that and take their time because COD4 raised the standards.

it doesn't sound good, Cod4 was out there but this is a big bad step back. There's already hundreds of WII games in the shops and we don't need another one. CoD4 raised the bar to new heights, but I think as long as the next one goes higher, i'l probably still play it.
