Capcom not bothered by RE5 competition

Capcom representatives have said that the publisher shares little concern over Resident Evil 5’s competition within the horror genre, citing the fact it is working hard to enhance the quality of the highly anticipated Survival Horror outing.
Speaking during a Q&A session following the company’s Q1 financial results, a Capcom representative commented, “The Resident Evil series has strong brand power and a special game concept, which builds a new view of the world that you can’t find in any other games.”
“Capcom is not all that concerned about competition with distribution titles, since the quality of our Resident Evil 5 is also being enhanced. Rather, we are at the stage of devising strategies to expand its sales further.
Resident Evil 5 takes place ten years after the events of the original game, placing gamers in control of series veteran, Chris Redfield, who has been dispatched to Africa along with newcomer Sheva Alomar to investigate the latest bio-terrorism threat.
The game hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 13, 2009.

Hope we'll get an RE which takes us back to the original story with umbrella corp. i think capcom are right to concentrate on making thier games better because it's thank's to them we have this excellent genre on our consoles!

I didn't bother buying RE4 since it had nothing to do with the original RE so i don't know if I'll buy this one @sblargh: which wii game are you talking about?

princevegeta1980, hes talking about umbrella chronicals on the Wii, and from what iv read about this game its starting to sound more like ResidentGearsofWarEvil, so im starting to loose interist my self, bring on left 4 dead. -

Of course they are not bothered.
If they where bothered they would actually try to make a better game than the competition. Reusing many RE4 animations shows you dont care.

There is some offhand talk in RE4 of some of the villian characters trying to steal the ' Las Plagas Sample' and using it to revive the downed Umbrella Corporation to its former power. Supposedly the virus was mixed with something else to get the T-Vrius, so in RE4 and RE5 i'm guessing we track down the original strain of this Virus or Bacteria..... I could be wrong but thats my theory anyhow.

resi 4 is an absolutly brilliant game! which by todays standards still looks good! i would reccomend anyone who hasn't to pick it up and play it!! resi 5 does look awesome but i completely understand people that are saying they miss city landscapes and umbrella! after all its the familiarity of urban enviroment that made the 1st games so scary!
