Film producer, Paul W.S. Anderson told SCIFI.com today that he hopes to have the script for the upcoming video game adaption of Castlevania done before the writer's strike in a couple weeks.
"[I'm] hoping to get a script for it in two or three weeks," Anderson stated. "And I'm hoping it's great. Sylvain White is directing it, and we're hoping to kind of make it a pre-strike movie. So it kind of shoots in the next couple months."
Developed by Konami, Castlevania is one of the longest going game franchises in the industry. With over 25 titles in the series, there should be plenty of history and characters for the film writers to make a decent movie adaptation.

Movie producer, Jeremy Bolt has also confirmed that the film is in pre-production for Rogue Pictures, with an intended start date this spring. He added that casting is already underway, but none of the main roles has been cast at this time.
For a brief history on what Castlevania producer Paul W.S. Anderson has done, here is a quick look at his Director and Producer filmography credits:
Director Credits:
- Mortal Kombat (1995)
- Resident Evil (2002)
- Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Producer Credits:
- Resident Evil (2002)
- Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
- Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
- DOA: Dead or Alive (2007)
Also if you were curious about Castlevania's possible director, Sylvain White, here are his Director filmography credits.
- Stomp the Yard (2007)
- I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006)
From the sounds of it, you can already bet on this being another horrible game to movie adaptation. Sorry gamers. Stay tuned for more information.

Film companies and Games dont mix. This news is quite sad, I mean do they really have to screw up the Castlevania name? Cant they make a crap movie about a crap game instead?
Better still - just go away Hollywood - and leave gaming well alone.

Oh Dear Paul.W.S.Anderson, what a hack.
Look at the films he's been involved with and then debate if the word "credentials" should actually be used.

The sad thing is, Paul Anderson can be a good director. Event Horizon was one of my favorite movies. But Paul Anderson + video games = dog crap.

The Castlevania franchise has deserved a movie for a long time now. My only concerns is, hollywood likes to change the script in videogame movies too much.

I suppose we should give them the benefit of the doubt. Although, Hollywood has not proven us wrong yet. I love most of the Castlevania games and would rather see another game in the series for the PS3 instead of a movie that will probably turn out to be a flop. The premise has the potential to be a good movie...but you know how previous transiterations of games into movies turned out.
