Cliff Bleszinski likes Blu-ray, hates PS3 controller

How about a morsel of articulate analysis from one of the industry's biggest figures? Gears of War 2 developer Cliff Bleszinksi doesn't get on with the PlayStation 3 controller. No sir.
“I hate the f***ing controller,” he remarked to VG247. “I’m sorry, I can’t stand the PS3 controller." So what are you trying to say here, Cliff?
Don't go home in tears just yet, though - Bleszinski digs PS3 as a whole.
"I love the Blu-ray player,” he went on. “I think there are some great games for PS3. I think Metal Gear’s great. Heavenly Sword was great. But at the same time, right now, I’m always working on Xbox with Gears.”
“I’m pretty comfortable with 360,” Bleszinski concluded. “I like its controller.”
Even with that 'orrible shonky D-pad, Cliff? Whatever floats your boat.

Lmao, i was actually reading this story on the forums just as it was posted here. But yeah, I've never had a problem with either controller. Hard to believe people actually have trouble using some controllers.
I hope hes not one of those 360 owners that blame the ps3 controller for why they lost a game.

Thats fine if he doens't like the controller, i know peopel who dont. He said he likes the PS3 so he's not bashing the PS3. Besides, think of it from a buisness point: If you like the 360 and your games sell well on it, you dont really NEED to release it on the PS3 or anything else

Well i have a preferance of the PS3 over the 360 but the only controller I ever seriously disliked was the original controller for the xbox (The duke). It felt at home for some shooters but I always felt that my range of motion was hampered. I like all the current controllers so it is all about personal opinion.
I am glad he likes the PS3 though. Maybe he can throw in a kind word to Mr. Ben Heck to make him a custom controller.

You know, it wouldn't be that hard for somebody to come out with a PS3 controller shapped like a 360 controller and vice versa. In fact, somebody might have and I just haven't noticed. I don't know why the controllers are that big a problem for anyone. I hear a lot of whinning from all different gamers about controllers. The only thing I don't like about my PS3 controller is the left joystick is kind of loose from me holding it down to sprint in COD4. You play with a controller long enough, you just get used to it.

He hates the PS3 controller but doesn't mind the D-pad on the 360 controller. Obviously this guy has his nose up Microsoft you know what. He can stay make games for the 360, doesn't bother me and I highly doubt people that play the PS3 are going to miss Cliffy.

Actualy the PS controller brought inovation when it was first relesed back in 95 or 96, not sure, and then everyone wanted to copy it, including xbox. but they could't make it identical so they made that oddly placed anolog sticks one. I and many like me don't care much for that cliff caracter, that boy is too full of himself.

What ever, Why should I, I as a PS3 owner, give two flying F**** about what Cliffy B says. The UT3 game for PS3 sucked so bad i had to return it, F***** i mean R:FOM was more fun and better looking and the story was 10x better. Why do people give this guy way too much credit, i mean c'mon give me a mother ******* break from this ****** please. So he doesn't like the PS3 controller, so do 10 mil other 360 fanboys. I'll start giving a rats *** about what this guy says when this guy and his team start making a better playing and looking game for PS3.

Gears of War 2 hasn't really improved compared to the first one. Unlike Resistance 2, which will be a big leap from the previous one. The xbox360 controller is good for adventure games and it works perfectly for fps games. Unfortunately it becomes almost impossible to use when it comes to combat games. I really cant imagine how i will play street fighter 4 with the 360 controller. The dual shock 3 controller works great for all types of games, that is why i love it. Infact it is the best controller ever.So Mr Cliff I wish u all the best with GoW2 and the 360.

For me I don't think there is any controller better than Sony's, its perfection! I was so glad they decided to stick with their original design and not change it. I haven't tried an Xbox360 controller but the i know the original xbox 1 controller was awful! It was so big and heavy which I found tiring on the hands.

That's cool. Hate on the controller that's so well liked that fans got pissed when they thought it was going to be changed. Granted, the new design was crazy looking... but still. Personal opinion is personal opinion. I hated the original XBOX controller, and I don't find the 360's to be much of an improvement. Gears is cool and all, but not cool enough to make me want a 360. I doubt Gears 2 will change my mind on that. Like I said, personal opinion.

@21 - Gears 2 didn't improve much because when you think about it sometimes people say a game is released and it's years ahead of the competition, and in terms of presentation and graphics and gameplay mechanics, Gears of War was. It had the perfectly balanced weapons/gameplay and small team based multiplayer. But Resistance was the game with a LOT of potential, and also a couple of things to improve, so yea Resistance 2 will improve a lot, but only because the prequel's bar wasn't set too high to begin with.
And I could understand why CliffyB hates the controller, it just doesn't work as well for an FPS. I've played CoD4, Resistance, CoD2, and any other big FPS on both systems and overall the 360 was MADE for FPS games. But this hurts it and makes it almost downright unplayable when it comes to other genres. And LOL @ Cliff all of a sudden liking MGS4 after his earlier comments this year

I just can't understand why a guy in his position (a lead developer with such a "heavy" name on the market) has to waste his time and specially, the gamers time, giving such a wastefull declaration. I mean, if he doens't like it, who cares? IMO such a words are so unethical, specially for a dev. There're several "generic" controler options for Ps3 with different shapes. It's really an odddeclaration. Ps.: Dreamcast has the worse controller shape ever to to be made.

cliff bleszinski look like bud bundy from married with children. cliffy not dumb he see the power of PS3 in MGS4 and the visaul of HS and bluray storage. he know that Gears would be ten times better if it was built on PS3 power. cliffy hate the PS3 controller if you wont but PS3 owners and PSU know he LUST for the PS3'S power.
- but cliff if you like holding obese nintendow controllers knock your self out

Why do people complain about controllers? There are other controllers than the original ones. It's like crying over the size of the PS3 harddrive.
Don't like your PS3/360 controller? Shut up and buy a better one, stupid. People should stop complaining all the time. I hate it when people do that.
(Oh, and btw, if you missed the irony please look twice. ;)

I know how he feels, but I hate the Xbox controllers. That was the deciding factor in me waiting for the ps3. Call me an old dog, but it's not worth my time to get used to a new controller configuration. Lord knows I've been through too many since the release of the Atari 2600.

Except for, dual shock, six axis, and triggers the playstation controllers style has been around since day one. When they tried to breathe new life into it with the boomerang or what ever it was they just made the playstation faithful upset. The only thing I could possibly complain about the controller is that I think the L2, and R2 should be concaved instead of round.

all i can say is, theres a reason why most immitators of controllers and joysticks, rip the design directly from the DualShock design.
i was in futureshop the other day, saw a controller that had the DualShock contorller design, but a 360 button layout.
How you may ask? I dont even know. I cant even picture it in my head but i saw it with my own eyes.
Regardless, DualShock design has been a staple design next to the NES controller for its influence into how people interface with their games :) -

Yeah, Mr. Cliffy why dont you just switch the Dual Shock's left analog with the D-pad, problem sloved.
CAUSE IT'S THE SAME DAMN SET UP. I hate dudes that come up here wit this bullisht.
Only difference in the controllers at all is the L and R buttons on the 360 are almost non-existant and there's not space inbetween the grips.

I have all three systems and the ps3 is definetly my favorite, but i agree with him. The xbox controller you can take out the battery and replace with another battery and it just feels more sturdy. I think im the only one saying this lol, but yeah. I mean the ps3 controller is a classic and great, but I thought the xbox controller is SLIGHTly better.

Im sure the xtot drones, dont notice this becuase they never got to see unreal tournament 3 on the 360, but the graphics for the new gears of war look EXACTLY like those of the ps3 ut3. First time I saw the screen shots, i thought somebody screwed up and just posted the screen shots from the 3rd person view mod for the ut3 on ps3. I love that he hates the controller, he prefers the 10lb xbox one instead?

hahaha the DS3 is only slightly heavier then the SA but when compared to the 360 control its like holding a feather. when i played GeOW i had to rest my hand the controller was so heavy(thats not saying i'll blow over in a slight breeze). as for feeling, my fingers wrap around the ps3 controller nicer.
