Chris Ansell of Radical Entertainment has hinted that the company may introduce an online cooperative mode in a future instalment of Prototype, despite omitting it from the first game.
"We were excited about the idea, and still are, but we decided to put all our effort into single-player,” Ansell told Eurogamer recently.
"So far the forum reaction's been to back up that idea. Games like Mass Effect and BioShock have had great success with a solid single-player, and we'd like to emulate that to make an amazing single-player game."
Co-op was originally pencilled in for the inaugural Prototype game due out later this year, but was eventually scrapped. Despite this, Ansell assured gamers that Radical is keen to explore this area in the future.
"We had some pretty cool ideas about multiplayer and we can't wait to start exploring that stuff. We're hoping the game sells really well so we can explore it further," he said.
"Consoles are going online so we know we have to get there, and that it's going to be a key component going forward."
Prototype is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in summer 2008.

I'm glad they decided to stick with single player, even though I knew this info months ago. I liked some of the ideas but I'd rather them give 100% to the single player than half-ass SP and MP.

This game has a brilliant concept, and co-op would just be the icing on the cake.
