Treyarch has revealed that gamers can expect “a few surprises” in regards to post-launch downloadable content for its hotly anticipated FPS, Call of Duty: World at War.
Speaking with Videogamer.com, Senior Producer Noah Heller revealed that DLC for the upcoming WWII shooter will be "off the beaten path,” further adding that the studio has flirted with the idea of adding in post-launch co-op campaigns missions.
"We're not announcing anything specific yet but I will say we're going to support this game very aggressively. We're definitely looking at doing things other than traditional DLC. We're definitely looking at supporting it for a long time to come because we're really proud of it. There will be a few surprises... we're going to do a few things off the beaten path,” said Heller.
Asked on the possibility of including additional co-op missions as featured DLC, Heller replied, "One of the wonderful things about co-op is there's no such thing any more as here's the single-player game and it never gets touched again. I can't confirm anything we might do, but the idea of adding new online co-op missions is definitely something that's been discussed a lot. And if co-op proves to be very popular then I'm sure the demand will be very high for it."
While he was unable to offer an idea as to when to expect the first batch of DLC, Heller stated that fans will be pleased with the amount of post-launch support the studio is planning for the title, adding, "We've people working on it right now, and believe me those are very tired people."
Call of Duty: World at War is scheduled for release on November 14.

@ 3
I guarantee the dlc's will not be free, They have "tired people" working on it so I'm sure they'll want to get paid for it.
BTW...why the heck most people wants dlc's for free?! Who's going to pay the guys/gals who work on the programs and such. Get a job, then let's see you "penny pinchers" work for free.

@10. what are you talking about, on the PC mappacks were free and stuff. For extra maps it should be free. They shouldn't insult console gamers this way. It seems to me a lot of developers such as Treyarch are going to insult your intelligence. I am pretty sure the PC maps that are added will be free, just not the console versions. It's pretty pathetic and no reason to stick up for them.
Have you ever made a map for any game? for 1 person to make a map it takes a little while but if you have 4 people or maybe more, you can whip out those maps in no time flat.

@12, run a business and get back to me on how you are going to afford to give away free stuff. seriously. if the game is a finished product and you don't have to pay for the ending then you have every right not to purchase additional maps or anything else. you know what your getting when you buy it. they have a business to run and people to pay. lol have 4 people working on it. 4 devs getting paid $30 an hour....lol see how long you can afford to pay for that....bugs fixed and a map that works....people are so dumb.
these games are multi-million dollar investments. ok wise guy you front the $10 million dollars and then see if you want to give everything away for free. lol
