The January issue of US publication Game Informer has obtained exclusive information on an all-new Command and Conquer game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Titled Command and Conquer: Tiberium, the game takes the form of a first person shooter set 11 years after the events of Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (the latest instalment for Xbox 360 and PC)
According to the magazine, players will assume control of fellow Global Defence Initiative (GDI) field commander Ricardo Vega, who has been pulled out of retirement to thwart the latest plans from the notorious Brotherhood of Nod.
Further details include squad-based gameplay (of which include infantry, missile infantry, Titan and Orcas), a setting described as the "Mediterranean Red Zone" and special abilities including the “Orbital Slug”.
This marks the second time that Command and Conquer has been adapted into a first person shooter, the first being 2002’s poorly received Command and Conquer: Renegade on PC.
Stay tuned for more details as they break. Please note that publisher EA has yet to confirm or deny development of the title.

If they make this a very gritty title full of desperation then it has a great opportunity to do something unique. Starcraft Ghost was headed in the wrong direcion under Nihilistic and Blizzard pulled the plug on that. Hopefully that mistake will not be duplicated and the developer, if it is a 3rd party or in house will get it right from the beginning.

FPS and C&C are two things that shouldn't go together.

RA3 is coming guys.... just be patient. I have confidence that it will be the next CnC game coming out on PC at least. They probably used TW to test out their nextgen engine and want to fine tweak it before doing an RA3.
If they DO use the TW engine though, I hope they find a way of bringing some of the (using this word loosely here) 'cartooniness' from the first 2 back. I like how everything was vibrant and illustrated feeling instead of so realistic.

Renegade sucked, for those that did not play it, I am sure the demo is still out there, try it, its what happens when you try to put something that works into another field.

renegade was pretty good. EA rushed it out when it was half finished though. Its one of the games with most mod support out there. (from the mod community it has established itself)
Also.. regarding the dude with the "next gen engine" they are still working on the same engine they used for generals. Which is actually a spin off from the renegade engine. Coincidence woot. The W3D engine. In any case it could go well and it could phail.
Oh and if they werent using the same engine.. they wouldnt test it on the tiberium universe.. afterall the best game of the series was in that universe... "Tiberian Dawn" (if they make another red alert .. it may bind them together but it may also have nothing to do with much.. the only red alert that was a known part of the original cnc universe is ra1.. if you dont believe me go to youtube and watch the soviet ending)
In either case i hope theyll pull some nice stuff off :) but they have problems making their stories interesting.
