'Crowded' Christmas pushed Heavy Rain back to 2010

Quantic Dream's Guillaume de Fondaumiere has revealed that the decision to push Heavy Rain into 2010 boiled down to the firm wanting to avoid the traditionally busy Christmas period, fearing the psychological thriller may get lost in the holiday shuffle.
“Purely from my perspective, most publishers today realise that it’s not ideal to release a new IP or a new genre just before Christmas,” de Fondaumiere told GI.biz at the GameHorizon event.
“It’s a very crowded place to be, and certain games need more space to live their life. Everybody at working on the project, both at Quantic and Sony, believe this is the right time,” he added.
PSU recently had the opportunity to go hands-on with the eagerly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive, our impressions of which can be read here. Stay tuned for more coverage on Heavy Rain as it becomes available.

I agree, get more time to make any new adjustments. Most parents are going to buy MAG, Uncharted 2, Ninja Gaiden sigma 2, COD MW2, and some wii games. Good thinking Quantic and Sony

@11 - This is clearly a good move. Though Heavy Rain is an amazing looking game, it is a niche title gameplay wise and would definitely see fewer sales if released for the holidays. MW 1.5 will see monster sales even if it's not that great, because mindless FPS games are clearly what the public wants.

@11 your kidding right? Its an obvious buisness choice to use - just look at the potential AAA games already up at christmas!! Its nothing to do with being unfinished, sure they will take the time to polish it more but its to do with what they say, it dosent take a genius to see how many kickass games are already lined up this autumn./winter

A lot of games do get lost in the shuffle because of a full holiday lineup.
I dunno but users made so much hype for this game I have a feeling this game will go the way of Haze.. its a shame cause I had nothing against haze, I didn't love it either, but I thought It was a standard FPS.
Note! I said USER made hype NOT sony made hype.

They said this before I think. I believe it was to give room to Uncharted 2, like Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 for last year.
