Crytek discusses a multiplatform future

German-based studio Crytek has recently discussed the disadvantages that creating a PC exclusive can bring. Outside of the much smaller userbase (those who can run Crysis), they have had to deal with creating one of the most pirated games in history.
Cevat Yerli, President of Crytek, had this to say, “It is certain. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. The degree that PC Gamers pirate games inherently destroys the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4 to 5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we won't have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusively anymore.”
With all of the rumors always pointing to a PlayStation 3 port of Crysis, it's good to know that we can at least look forward to the future titles from the studio. This could also explain why Crytek was looking for developers and designers for the PlayStation 3.

Good thing about Blu-ray is the price of blank disks and burners puts most pirates off and you can't just play pirate games from the HDD.

I wonder if we are just going to get their next title instead of Crysis.

Why didn't they just put it on Steam and make everyone have to go through a bunch of crap just to play? Counter-Strike 1.6 is hard to find wthout the need for Steam.

if crytek cries about crysis' failure any more, I think I'm going to ship them a box of cleanex's. Honestly... stfu. Crisis did nothing more than boast graphics no one could handle. Oo0oo... that [so] = amazing sales. People don't care about amazing graphics if teh gameplay is been there done that.

I hope that Crysis does indeed come to the PS3. If Crysis came to the PS3, it would sell pretty well and I'm sure that it would sell several million units. So many people had to upgrade their PC's just to play Crysis and that wasn't really a good idea for Crytek to release a game that required so much.
I'm just glad I'm a console gamer because I know that every game will run perfectly on my PS3 and I don't have to look on the back of the game box for technical requirements just to run the game smoothly like PC games. But, I just hope that Killzone 2 can make it out this year because I've been hearing some rumors lately that Killzone 2 could get pushed back to 2009 and if that happened, I would loose my freaking mind because that's the only shooter I'm foaming at the mouth for.

I have to say i think, his logic is rather flawed. Crysis is only pirated because its not that good of a game, and PC gamers can't justify buying it (I can't believe i even bought it the game was that bad.) but to say that just because its on pc its not gonna sell well is a joke. Lets take a look at Sins of a Solar Empire, that game has no piracy protection yet quickly became a top 10 seller around the world. This was because it was a good game, but also it ran on almost any system. Crysis could barely run full graphics on the top system you could buy at the time of its release. That is why it failed, and people would rather pirate it. Would you buy a game if you knew it would probably not work on your PC well? I wouldn't thats why people would rather pirate those games, to see whether or not it will run or if it's even worth buying at all. I know about 75% of the games i've played on PC i wouldn't buy, coz i'll play the first hours or so then find out.....IT SUCKS!!!

I dont care for crisis as long as we get games from the people behind it, it wasn't more then a showcase to sell licence, there are more epic games out there that beat crysis in any way but graphics and physics.
