Dark Sector devs lending hand in BioShock development

According to 2K Games, Dark Sector developer Digital Extremes has partnered with 2K Marin, 2K Boston and 2K Australia to help optimize BioShock for the PlayStation 3.

"By partnering with Digital Extremes, 2K Games is delivering a fully optimized experience that takes advantage of the PLAYSTATION 3 system hardware," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Bringing Digital Extremes on board allows us to continue to deliver the best experience possible to our fans."

For a quick history lesson, Digital Extremes experience reaches back 15 years, including development on such titles as: Dark Sector, Pariah, Unreal Tournament 2004 and 2003, and the original Unreal.

"When 2K approached us to assist with development on BioShock for the PlayStation 3, it was a no-brainer," said James Schmalz, CEO and founder of Digital Extremes. "You really can't ask for a more exciting, technically impressive world to work in than Rapture, and the incredible knowledge and talent between the 2K studios and our team at Digital Extremes is unprecedented. The collaboration on this project will make the PlayStation 3 sing with Big Daddy goodness and Little Sister 'thank you's'."

BioShock is expected to release sometime this October. Stay tuned to PSU.com for more information.

at this point I dont think any game that's being produced right now wouldnt have trophies. I mean if it's going to release this month then no but anything that hasnt gone gold yet could easily add them.

Ok, now maybee the gaming industry is becoming more unified, but if I remember correctly Dark Sector was originaly an exclusive to the PS3 but eventualy was released on both consoles and ran BETTER on 360 than PS3! Ok, I'm not a 360 fan but they REALLY DID NOT DELIVER on the console that it was originaly suppost to bs an exclusive for; so what did they do with all that exclusive development time, NOTHING!  In my mind they are in no way a voice to be heard on PS3 development!!!

I have a good friend that works for them and in working on Bioshock.

I dont see why it would take up a dual layer BD, since the game was originally designed for a DVD9, it will take up barely more than that.

This is one of the games I am really looking forward to, one of the few "console envy" games.

Yes, there will be trophies, you can rest assured that pretty much any game released from here out will have trophies.
