Capcom’s stylish hack n’ slash adventure series Devil May Cry has shipped a whopping ten million units worldwide since its inception in 2001, the publisher today confirmed.
The latest entry in the franchise, Devil May Cry 4, was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2008 and has since gone on to shift 2.2 million copies globally. Capcom also revealed that it plans on expanding the franchise into other forms of entertainment, including comic books, novels, action figures and anime.
The original Devil May Cry was released in 2001 exclusively for PlayStation 2, having previously taken the form of an early concept for Resident Evil 4. After a somewhat underwhelming sequel, the series redeemed itself with the pulse pounding Dante’s Awakening in 2005.

I have every dmc game there is and so far the best ones are dmc1 and dmc3, I liked dmc4 but nero added way too much confusion to the mix, I like his style and how he plays but I felt as though the game developers wanted to replace vergil with nero and that pissed me off, they didn't even mention vergil in dmc4 but here this guy comes out of no where and takes vergils sword. It was just so confusing that it turned me off almost all together

@6 did you really pay much attention to the dialogue or Nero's aura in devil trigger? Firstly when Dante let nero keep Yamato he said "its best to keep it in the family". Also The devil trigge was shaped exactly like Nelo Angelo (Virgil in devil form). DMC4 to me seems to be leading up to concluding what happened in part 2. I have a feeling Nero will end up meeting Virgil/Nelo Angelo and helping Dante escape the demon world. After all the time line goes 3,4,1,2.

Incorrect Lanthros.
Dante told Nero in their second fight that he ( Dante) wanted to keep Yamato in the family. Which were his reasons for fighting that idiot Nero.
At the end Nero asked Dante that he ( Nero) thought the sword meant alot to him ( Dante ), why was he letting him keep it. Dante replied, 'it's in good hands,' or whatever.
Nero was a nobody until his arm got injured in a fight with some demons, read the story in the booklet. That's one of the reason I hate the direction Capcom is taking DMC. Kobayashi doesn't know what to do with Dante or Virgil so he through this idiot, Nero into the story, to tell it his way.

The story for DMC4 was totally whack. I didn't mind the whole Nero thing but his story was really basic and unnecessary. Dante was almost irrelevant to the story in 4 as well. The gameplay was fresh as always but the story kind of threw things off for me, as well as the lack of unlockables. Overall, 1 and 3 still stand as the only REALLY good DMCs. And personally, I'd have to say I enjoyed 2 more than 4.

@ 1 and 2
I don't think Nero's game was that bad, the problem with that game is that it didn't advance the story in any significant way and Dante's half was rehashed to death and pointless. Now Devil May Cry 2 was the worst of that bunch, I couldn't even bring myself to finish it.
If DMC anime was the storyline to 4 and DMC 4's storyline was the anime, that would have been heaven to me personally. I know some of you disagree so you don't have to write an angry convoluted response to me, It's just my own personal opinion.
