EA divulges reasoning behind PS3 Red Alert 3 development 'hold'

Back in June, EA's Tammy Schachter told PSU.com that they had shelved the PlayStation 3 version of Red Alert 3, instead moving focus to PC and Xbox 360 development.
"The PS3 is a powerful platform that would be a great fit for an RTS game in the future," said EA's Tammy Schachter. "Development of Red Alert 3 for PS3 has been put on hold. EA LA is focusing resources on development for PC and Xbox 360 which will ship simultaneously this fall."

In a recent talk with Videogamer.com, EA LA producer Amer Ajami further explained the PS3 version's predicament and why EA delayed the development of the title until a later time.
"We actually announced a PS3 version early on but that was when we were still doing a lot of technical exploration of the architecture," said Ajami. "[The] PS3 is a very powerful system but as you guys know it's very exotic and tough to develop for and our engine really at the time wasn't designed for PS3."
Ajami finished the dicussion by stating that EA LA "might go back and do something with the PS3 later on." With the Command and Conquer series being one of the best RTS franchises in the genre, it would be a shame not to see Red Alert 3 come to the PS3.

Undying_Darkness, yeah it is.
EA is just sad. They can't even finish a game before release. (Battlefield : Bad Company) Don't buy anything EA puts out. This company just screws gamers.

EA has bin nothing but slackers this generation, developing crapy games and even crapyer ports. I used to be a big fan of EA but now, I’m just disappointed. All of their claims are pointless when compared to other developers who have had little difficulty developing for our system. If there is such difficulty then there should be a grand meeting between developers to share their knowledge as to help one another develop the best possible game for the consumers in a timely fashion instead of all the excuses. I think u all agree with me in that we are quite fed up with all of this. 2 years of the same complaints is inexcusable considering many others have nothing but good news.

Thank you for further rationalizing my stance on not buying any more ea titles. And this line really takes the friggin cake:
Ajami finished the dicussion by stating that EA LA "might go back and do something with the PS3 later on."
How about you shove a cactus up your a55 and call it a day. Don't do me any phucking favors, pal.

Translated-we can't be bothered to put time or effort into making a ps3 games as it may affect our profits.
This is just sheer laziness on EA's part. What are they gonna do when ps3 sales take over the 360?I would put money on them making sure games come out on the ps3 then.
This game doesn't bother me on ps3 as i'll just get it for pc but it sucks if you dont have a pc poweful enought to run it.

SOnys has a better team over seas, but I dont know if they see whats going on here. LONG LIVE PS3

EA have been so P!ss poor this generation I don't know why psu are even bothering to right articles about them and why we are even bothering to read the articles. Its only ever bad news when EA is involved. Really we should just all forget the company. Then as the ps3 install base grows EA will finally turn around begin putting more effort into the ps3 and thats when we can turn around and tell them to stick their games up their a55 and p!ss off. They had their chance this generation and stuffed up.

@EA LA
Dont bother making it. You say its still hard to dev games for ps3 that mean that you haven't tried. The system that sold more of your games on (playstation brand) and you still F us . You are weak , we don't feel sorry for you. Keep your games and we don't care. We know we have a powerful system and stuff. The games looks cool and stuff but when you talk like that that means we are going to get a bad port and you will make it so its playable on the ps3 not a great game on the ps3. You will not get my 60 bucks for a game that will be the price of a greatest hit at 29.99!
psn id: I95SOUTH<----- You dev's need to stop trying us ps3 users. We are going to start p.i.s.sing on you all.

exotic and tough to develop for(we are cheap and lazy and stuck with the the 360)...its totally unprofessional for a company as big as EA to still be saying this, they had the or could of had the ps3 dev kits be4 the ps3 even came out and with the amount of people EA employ they should be pro`s making games for the ps3 by now, like i said there too big n got too lazy and there are runing gaming for alot of people.

Makes sense to me. The PC and XBox kinda share the same principles in game development regarding SDK's, so developing for one another is "relatively" easy I suspect. The PS3 has completely different architecture, thus will take longer for them to get their heads around. It's not about one is more powerfull than the other etc. My one gripe is that they should have looked at the PS3's architecture WAY before annoucing the game for the PS3 platform.

@ tabular
When you say that about the about post, you are the one that sounds crazy. because why give money to a company that cont. to sell you crap when playstation was the one making them the most money all this time in the past. Like when they did madden nation on xbox but the game selled more on playstation.
