Famitsu: PSP on top in Japan, PS3 falls even further

We’ve got good news and bad news, O disciples of PlayStation. Let’s start with the bad news: the PlayStation 3 has continued its downward sales slide in Japan for the week ending October 17, according to Famitsu estimates, with 1,200 sales between it and the marginally more successful Xbox 360.

Now for the good news: the PlayStation Portable has outsold every other platform combined almost twice over. The bulk of that figure can be attributed to the PSP-3000, Sony’s latest handheld revamp, which walked away with over 140,000 sales in the first four days of its life despite issues with the redesigned screen.

Here are Famitsu’s predictions in full:

PSP – 156,000
DS Lite – 34,000
Wii – 25,000
PS2 – 7,800
360 – 6,000
PS3 – 4,800
