Far Cry 2 Producer Louis-Pierre Pharand has said that the game’s single player campaign could potentially last gamers up to 50 hours.

Speaking to CVG, Pharand commented, "Just on single alone, gamers can potentially have close to 50 hours of game play.”

Pharand also divulged that the highly anticipated First Person Shooter would not feature co-op due to the sheer size of the game, stating, "We decided to abandon it for this instalment simply because of the complexity and size of the game.”

"Add the Multi experience & the Map Editor... gamers will have their money's worth with FarCry2,” he explained.

Far Cry 2 offers players an entirely non-linear, open-ended experience, with gamers able to navigate a sprawling, 50 square km landmass in Africa, featuring terrain from savanna to the jungle.

The game replaces Jack Carver from the original Far Cry with an entirely new protagonist, and implements a dynamic weather system, with weather conditions changing depending on how the player is performing at the time.

Environments will also be highly interactive, with one demo in particular showcasing the ability to destroy various plant life and vegetation, in addition to multiple man-made objects. Natural elements will also play an important role, with wind effects for example able to exacerbate the spreading of fire.

Far Cry 2 is currently scheduled for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in September 2008.

I don't believe him. Most dev's/publishers always lie about the length of a game. But I am still getting this game.

I agree with Emo-Merc, it sounds like over-the-top dev drivel, the only way you could get 50 hours out of the game is if the devs force players to go over insane distances to get to objectives then back track several times, sure it'll take time but wont be fun, players will most likey die of bordem or play multiplayer...

The game looks damn good though.

GTA IV was meant to be 50 hours took me 25 hours(and most people), Haze was meant to be 10 hours took me(and most people) five

So if a game dev (excluding Bethesda) says a game will be X half that and you'll probably be spot on

i'm still getting this though love the new fire physics

I'm just hoping Ubisoft to a better job with Far Cry 2. After all the hype and endless delays, Haze was such a massive disappointment, it has to be one of the worst FPS for the PS3 so far!

Saying Haze is 1 of the worst ps3 FPS's ever is going a bit over the top have you even played the full game

More was expected of it thats all

Sorry TobiUchiha, but yes, this is how I feel about Haze. I've played it though to completion and afraid its just not in the same league as Resistance or COD4, which I  was expecting it to be in with all the hype for the game. The online play is ok, but I was hoping and expecting so much more. At least Far Cry 2, Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 are on the horizon to look forward too. Its back to COD for me :)

Far Cry is one of the top ten FPS in my opinion. This should be great. Plus the person who made Bioshock's story is doing Far Cry's.

Just for the record, Haze was far better than BlackSite: Area 51.

Open world games seem to take longer than what the dev says.  Took me forever to beat San Andreas because I couldn't stop causing massacres.
