Firmware v2.10 out now

If you head online on the PlayStation Network right now, you'll be prompted to download the latest PlayStation Firmware update, v2.10. The update includes DivX support, Blu-ray v1.1, and a voice changer for bluetooth headsets.
We're unsure as to when the next major update will release, as Sony recently stated that they hope to spread out the current time between each new firmware.

An update to the PS3 system software was released on December 18, 2007. If you update your PS3 system, the system software version will be 2.10 and the following features will be updated. In order to download PS3 system software version 2.10, you will need a minimum 120Mb of free space on either the PS3 Hard Disk Drive (System Update) or on removable storage media (PC Update).
The PLAYSTATION 3 system software version 2.10 update includes the following:
* Voice Changer
The Voice Changer feature has been added to voice / video chat. Visit the Voice Changer guide in Help & Support under PS3 at eu.playstation.com for more details.
Using this feature, you can change the tone of a voice that is input from an audio device such as a microphone. High and low-pitched tones can each be adjusted to five preset levels. You can vary the tone when using voice / video chat under Friends.
Other new or revised features in version 2.10
Music:
* You can now select [Type 3] as an option under Settings > [Music Settings] > [Bitmapping]. This bitmapping process was developed specifically for the PS3TM system to enhance audio playback.
Video:
-DivX and VC-1 (WMV) have been added to the types of files that can be played. *
-Blu-ray Disc Profile 1.1 is now supported. **
-[BD Data Utility] has been added. ***
- To play VC-1 (WMV) format files, you must go to Settings > [System Settings] and set [Enable WMA Playback].
- Copyright-protected files or files that were encoded by using DivX 3.11 cannot be played. - Files that are 2GB or more cannot be played.
** You may now be able to use several additional features such as playback of two videos at the same time with Profile 1.1-compatible Blu-ray Discs. The available features vary depending on the disc.
*** The management data that is used by the Blu-ray Disc is saved.

PSN ID: Algonath / Gamertag: Algonah........nice tryed it ALL, AND there are OTHER hidden features in the update such as: Updated Internet Browser, yes downloading of WMV videos straight to HDD. Wallpaper or themes appears with on Web Browser. NEW MUSIC VISUALSATION, press SQUARE to show the "EARTH" music visualiser. and more i belive. BUT this Voice Changer will start a War. Im serious, this voice changer is fun but it will be annoying to other players in games! Your voice can sound like Alvin and the Chickmunks, MINIME, and a 5 year old girl COMBINED! What if pedafiles get a hold of this?! TERRIBLE but still the voice thingy is fun lol

I don't know why, but when i download this it goes really slow. I had been downloading for about 4 hours and got 30% done then i got a DSN error or something like that. Now i'm trying to download from my PC but seems to be just as slow. Anybody else having the same problem? I have a 60GB ps3 from the US but in the UK now maybe that has something to do with it, any help would be much appriciated.

@big_dave_7............ Your internet connection spped must be very slow. It happened to me when I firt got my PS3. I had a DSL connection and it worked slow. A couple months ago i got a cable connection and everything that dealt with online like web browsing and and downloading the latest firmware were boosted dramatically.

Voice changer will be annoying...I was playing COD4 last night and there were a few chipmunks playing in my game. If they somehow got the update to work already, it didn't take long for idiots to make their mark...hopefully it doesn't last long.

PSU lies? what happened with MORE FEATURES In PS3 DIVX SUPPORT THAN XBOX
I just cant understand why the XBOX have Divx Ultra:

With:
- File size playback up to 4GB
- Interactive video menus
- Chapter/scene selection
- Up to 8 subtitles
- Multiple audio tracks
And the playstation 3 have an incomplete update... divx support is awesome but with the 2 gb limit and without subtitles, its just useless..... Im very dissapointed. -
