When we reviewed Burnout Paradise, we touted it as "the freshest racing experience in a long time." Things haven’t changed over the past few months – no racing title has revitalized the genre in the way that Paradise has.
It was just announced on the official Burnout forums that downloadable content will be coming to Paradise. We’ll be seeing several new cars available for purchase at the PlayStation Store soon.
Far more tantalizing however is the mention of downloadable islands which will arrive in the form of free updates. That’s correct, no money involved.
"This bridge leads to what we reveal today to be the first in a series of islands adding to Paradise City," commented Criterion Games’ Alex W. "And one more thing, the islands will all be FREE."
He goes on to tout the each island will offer "a different type of gameplay." Whether this means different from each other or different than the standard Paradise gameplay isn’t clear, but we’re certainly intrigued with either idea.
