GRiD PS3/360 comparison video -- or is it?

GameTrailers.com has become infamous for their comparison videos of multiplatform titles spread across the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360, but they've seemed to decide to take it one step further. After the entire Devil May Cry 4 debacle that left a lot of gamers displeased on both sides of the spectrum, one would expect a similar situation from not taking place later on. They've recently released their side-by-side comparison of the latest demo, GRiD, produced by Codemasters. We've included the video below.
Now, what you just saw was a straight comparison between both formats, but it leaves you wondering as to why GameTrailers decided to pull this comparison video from their website. You might be able to find the answer out as to why in the video below.
The question we're trying to have answered much like a lot of other gamers are is, "How many other times has this occured?" In a world where gaming journalism has become heavily influenced by money, free swag, free games and press kits, we find ourselves disconnecting with the love we once had for honest-to-god unbiased journalism and replacing it with a tinted view of the dollar. Leave your impressions below.
In the end, you should leave it up to your own opinions on which you feel looks better by viewing credible sources of media. Do this by visiting the official homepages of games or by just checking the title out side-by-side on your own.
[Editor's Note: I apologize if either video ends up being removed.]

So true same goes for EGM & Gamepro who only recently started showing the PS3 in a positive light, and somtimes Gamepro wil have a review for a Multiplatform title and will only rate the 360 version im so sick of that crap its not even funny.

LOL that funny I dont know why they would do that. But it definatly show how bias a lot of so called experts are. Take into consideration when you are watching x play on G4 how many times have you seen a multiplatform game reviewed on PS3 version before the X360 version?

Shame on you GT, I know for a fact anything done on X360 should be exactly possible on PS3, so I was a little confused as to why the PS3 version of GRID looked like cr@p in that video. When i had seen many other comparison videos of games like GTA IV which looked exactly the same on both systems

This is nothing new or surprising for many people in the PS3Forums.
We have seen the media siding with the 360 even before the PS3 was launched, and this is no different, regardless what face they put on it.
I said before, that just as the media claimed it was up to SONY & the PS3 to prove themsleves, it is also up to the media to prove their professionalism & and objective/unbiased reporting of facts without clouding them with emotional opinion. Which I might add has absolutely no place in journalism.Yet, they do the opposite & prove our point..
Its hilarious that people who notice this onesided opinionated effluence are labelled as fanboys, and yet the gaming media appear to be the biggest fanboys of all & keeping their so-called "console wars" alight.
The media have an agenda & it so happens that this agenda sides with the 360.
Simply stop giving these morons site-hits...at least until they learn the meaning of the word "professionalism". They are not just trying to wound SONY/PS3, they are lying to their readers.....the very people that feed them.

Wow, graphically. They both look great.......until I saw the 2nd video showing that some parts of the PS3 version were subbed as 360. I don't know about you guys, but this article is pushing it too hard.
I didn't even care about physics or anything like that until I saw the 2nd video. I just watched the first video thinking, wow! they both look and play great! But wow.....that's alot of scrutiny for just comparison videos. Still, it's just to journalists to weed each other out so we don't get inaccurate videos like that! -

GT is a good site for info but as for showing witch ver looks better they somehow always make the xbox 360 look better or the set up the PS3 settings wrong like Assasin's Creed was one of them i don't know why they do this but if microsoft is paying some behide money to put them on top it sure is working lol aswell as for some ratings they sometimes they give a higher score to them not only in GT but in IGN and Gamespot anyhow this game looks really good on both not as good as GT but still something to play ^_^ i love codemasters anyway tho they need to make a new Second Sight game that game sure rocked and the story was very well done :)

You should be ashamed PSU. Go on, have a dig at a hugely famous website when they screw up in an attempt to make you look 'professional'? Did it not cross your mind this could have been an honest screwup?
The thing is though, not only do you post this hugely inappropiate article, you then go on to post what could probably be classed as borderline libel by implying that Gametrailers have been paid off to do this. How utterly ridiculous.
Tthis should be a forum post, not a 'news' article.

@Alti
Typical Western attitude: "Who cares how bad something is, I refuse to go without or sacrifice as long as it pleases me. Look no further than this attitude as to why (all of) you get crapped on by these companies.
*
...and don't get me started on EGM/1up. I read that magazine from the first issue. They used to BOAST about how unbiased they were. They used to have thin months because advertsiers would pull out. As a result, they got more credibility...BUT:
*
The more powerful they got, they more money they were offered to sell out, and they eventually caved. F V c k them...

Mikleran, what're you talking about? Libel? I specifically used the word "we," which clearly includes all journalists (including us) into that spectrum. Get off the high horse. If this had been a "mistake," you would have seen the video reuploaded with the appropriate clips edited in to further support their comparisons. It's been awhile since it was taken down and fixing that issue would have taken mere minutes.
This is news, whether you'd like it to be or not. Things like this have happened before and the casual gamer doesn't ever take note of this and is therefore given the false representation of what to expect and what to believe.
Also, no where did I take a "dig" at GameTrailers. I didn't tell people to not view their website, nor did I insult them in any shape or form. When you're a legitimate website like GT.com is, you have to maintain that sense of pride and work that got you to that point.

This bias isn't exclusive only for video game journalism either. All journalism has turned from an informative speech to an opinion speech... with SOME facts. The basic opinion of the speaker is coming out instead of what actually should be said. In doing so, the reader is missing out of what actually should be known, just because the reporter has a grudge toward something else. Personally, if they want their job, they will learn to take it and research into all the aspects before opening their damnable mouth and tell the reader/viewer what they need to know. In all retrospect, if someone asks me about a game, I will say "Well, if you like this-and-this in a game, it will be for you." If they want my opinion, I give it to them; this would be the scenario for an opinion, and not in a report (NOTE TO JOURNALISM! LRN2SCHOOL!).

I agree, this is a great catch and a worthwhile news story, Im so sick of websites like this going pro MS and then all the xbox fanboys screeming see! we are better! Its just like how gamespot took off like 2 points on Warhawks rating and the only bad thing they could FIND to say was that there was no in game tutorial!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to break it to you guys but having downloaded both versions of the demo the 360 comes out on top. the PS3 version has more tearing and noticable drops in frame rate. It also looks a bit rough particulalry on the menus and loading screens (not that they really matter). just bare in mind that this is only a demo and things could change.

Im sorry...and average Joe can take your word for it?
If GT comparisons can be suspect & they are supposedly "unbiased" and "professional" then how do you expect to be believable considering your are of no standing within the gaming community? Its not personal, but Im sure you see my point.
As for the Demo from PSN, I haven't noticed any issues. And rough menus? Nonsense.......this is something I can easily disagree with.
But then...what do I care..I don't like the game.;)

This is a situation where the demo videos are pointless. Both systems have demos that you can check out in real time, if you have either system you can experience it right there on the spot and say whether or not the game is good. I tried the demo the other night and it kicks a$s, plus it's cooler to watch in 720p on a 42 inch screen rather than a 600x800 video window on a 17inch laptop monitor!

"I specifically used the word "we," which clearly includes all journalists (including us) into that spectrum."
Ehh, clear as mud. Read your article again- the reference to the 'we' before you posted your mini-rant was "We've included the video below.", and, unless all journalists are responsible for 'including' that video, that means you're referring to 'we' as PSU journalists. My original point stands.
"If this had been a "mistake," you would have seen the video reuploaded with the appropriate clips edited in to further support their comparisons. It's been awhile since it was taken down and fixing that issue would have taken mere minutes."
Oh, because that clearly means it wasn't an honest mistake. You're assuming far, far too much.
"This is news, whether you'd like it to be or not."
If this, or anything where a journalistic site screws up, is 'news' then why does no reputable site post it? Oh wait, because you don't post stuff like this. I think you'll find anyone successful in -any- trade won't go around while representing their business saying things like "haha, look! here's a rival making a mistake! lets point it out to everyone and make them look bad!"
"Things like this have happened before and the casual gamer doesn't ever take note of this and is therefore given the false representation of what to expect and what to believe."
Gees, I'm not going to go there with this.
"When you're a legitimate website like GT.com is, you have to maintain that sense of pride and work that got you to that point."
Yes, you have to maintain a sense of pride, which is exactly my point about why you shouldn't post this."Also, no where did I take a 'dig' at GameTrailers. I didn't tell people to not view their website, nor did I insult them in any shape or form."
Heh, are you a member of the labour party by any chance? I think they'd like you. :) -

1. Please visit dictionary.com and search the word "news." This falls under one of the many definitions of that word.
2. Learn context and comprehension. "We've included the video below." and "In a world where gaming journalism has become heavily influenced by money, free swag, free games and press kits, we find ourselves disconnecting with the love we once had for honest-to-god unbiased journalism and replacing it with a tinted view of the dollar." Are two totally different uses of the word "we." Please learn to differentiate between them, as you seem to be the only reader who wasn't able to.
3. I'm assuming? Have you seen a statement made by them? A repost? An apology? A statement saying it was a mistake? No. It's been hours upon hours now and they've just let it go. If it were just an "honest mistake," they wouldn't have been so hasty and subtle about just pulling the video altogether like it never existed.
4. GameTrailers.com isn't a "rival" website. We're two completely different forms of media.
5. Also - That's cute... "I think you'll find anyone successful in -any- trade won't go around while representing their business saying things like "haha, look! here's a rival making a mistake! lets point it out to everyone and make them look bad!""
That literally had me laughing out loud a bit. We never see Microsoft or Sony pointing out the mistakes of the opposing company when it comes to their consoles. You're 100% correct. Anyone "successful" in "any trade" would never go around doing that, ever. Great point.
Keep these coming, please.

take your fanboy rant somewhere else. Your thoughts on this matter are laughable at best. Normally companys donät make these type of mistakes more then once. and yet here we are.
go bother Kotaku they have the samething posted there, even tho "no other site is running this"

Truly it boggles the mind how this type of "mistake" could even happen in the first place

Guys, don't attack Mikleran. He's entitled to his opinion on the entire matter, much like the rest of you are. If I'm coming off as "attacking" him as well, I apologize, but I don't mean to be. I'm just enjoying debating with him on the topic.
Kotaku, On-Axis, N4G, etc. have all ran with this story...well before we did.

Gametrailers comparison sucks so bad. Especially the one with Assassins Creed. The PS3 version was much more brighter than Xbox 360 and it looked awful. Then I saw the game on my friends new big and superclear full HD-TV and the picture was superb, nothing like Gametrailers comparison at all.
Gametrailers is comparing TV's not games.

well as much as it pains me to say it, some ppl deserve a little attack, when people close their minds and refuse to see the fact that many websites have corrupt writers that love to let their biases morph their reviews. this is evident in many sites. its very easy to tell when a XBOX fan makes a review of a PS3 game, thats why i am a little more happy with IGN who uses sepertate teams which is how it should be, or there shouldnt be any sites that do all systems, maybe it would be better off if we just had sites liek PSU or teamxbox, atleast you dont see this kinda of crap happening nearly as much.

The guy correctly points out that it is not the first time GT have done this. Maybe you remember a 360 vs PS3 comparison of Assassin's Creed, where they claimed the graphics are more washed out on PS3? That's what they would have seen with the PS3 RGB mode set to 'limited'. With RGB on 'full', there's literally no difference in terms of colour / shadows between the versions.
I've done a very small amount of research and linked to a few more offending comparison trailers below.
Assassin's Creed - http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28005.html?type= (colour diff's)
Elder Scrolls - http://www.gametrailers.com/player/18049.html?type= (colour diff's)
Burnout Paradise - http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29926.html?type= (mislabeling of some clips and vast colour differences again)
These videos should be pulled and amendments should be made to reviews for people who are curious about buying these releases in future. Even then - a lot of damage has been done because gamers with both - or no console who wanted these games may have made their choice based on these awful comparisons.
GT lose all respect for this. These 'mistakes' only proves GT are a bunch of incompetent idiots - or very well paid sc^m. -

First GamePro just made their reviews to give the 360 all the credit, but for this I got to say, YOU SUCK GameTrailers! Man or is GRID to blame? Are they trying to beat Gran Turismo 5 Prologue this badly?
