I just so happen to think that Orange Box will be a waste of my time, so I will not be getting it.  Is he even serious, he is a developer making a game for a console and then he is gonna go and critisize said console.  He has got some balls coming off as if he doesnt need the PS3.  I cant wait to see what he says in about a years time after the PS3 takes off and never looks back.

I'm not gonna lie, the guy's studio puts out some awesome games but he sounds like a total noob to me.  Personally i think HL2 should've been kept on the pc where it belonged, i don't see it feeling very good on either console.  And what kind of idiot trashes the platform their very product is being released on?

Wow....  this guy must be payed off or something.  It's like he's trying to tank possible sales of his own product just because he's not smart and/or creative enough to program for a certain machine.  And I may be wrong, but isn't the cell being used for lots of other research?

It's not like Valve has the ability to make great games anyway.  Orange Box will be mediocre at best.  Unfortunately for him, when the best games are coming out on Sony's monster console, he'll be stuck making the lesser Half-Life 3 on the XBox.  At least we have GOOD development teams like Rockstar and Team ICO working on the PS3... the Sony camp doesn't even need Valve.

I love HL2 and Counter-Strike: Source but Gabe is a total idiot. He says the ps3 is a total disaster? look at the Steam Platform and source engine, if anything they are the buggiest pieces of software that company has to offer. He criticizes anything that isn't PC

As for calling the guy fat or a retard or looser... This guy became a millionair before 20 writting complex commercial applications then stepped out on his own and has written three of the worlds top 20 computer games of all time, runs a highly successfull indipendent company "Valve" which is measured in the hundreds of millions and is respected by the hard core gaming community as he is not a poser. Having said that - he's making this comment as a geek, and he's not the only person with an engineering & programming background that has said that PS3 is hard to develop on. Maybe it is...

The real question is "whether its worth developing on PS3" and that question can only be answered by consumers who vote with their wallets. If the world thinks its worth it - then its worth it.

Valve are still pushing forward with Orangebox on PS3 - so whilst its a bit hard to work with PS3 - at least he's saying it's worth persisting. Its his money at risk and hes supporting PS3 so be happy - Gabe thinks its worth it. Thats better than what Namco is saying (like with Monster Hunter) - right?

Cut the guy some slack and dont take offense to Gabe's assesment of PS3 technologically as he is a hard core geek.

It's a good thing they delayed the orange box for PS3 because now he's had time to ensure NO ONE BUYS HIS PEICE OF SHlT GAME. Half Life 2 might be "the greatest game ever" but there are other ways to get it rather than buying this box which a bunch of 36* owners have now told me that it's the only thing worth playing in the box. Team fortress with it cool "Incredibles" style movies might look awesome but the game play is apparently not as fun as halo which is the master of over-hyped. We're better off sticking to WarHawk.

-1 Orange Box sale.  I wonder if any else is noticing the slow M$ take over of the US gaming market.  Didn't their former CEO of gaming just take the CEO position at EA?  Now Newell...a respected developer (and former M$ employee) is trashing the competing console.  Hmmm.  That's some shady conspiracy crap right there.

Meh...Gabe is a highly respected guy in the gamin circles (well...360 and PC circles now i suppose) however All things considered and having debated this back and forward with a few of my mates...none of us are buying orange box any any console...mainly because Half Life 2...like Halo 3 is an average game made famous by people who rave about something until everyone else thinks it's fact.

I've beaten Halo 3...took about 8 hours give or take...I've found all the skulls (got my poo Hayabusa helmet to prove it) and i've got a load of the achievements...but still...the only thing the game has going for it is the online aspect of it and i'm starting to get bored of it already...and the same can be said for the orange box...it'll be fun for a week or two but then what happens next...I finished Bioshock twice and then traded it in because after you've seen both endings and done everything whats the point?

So Half Life 2...what's exciting??? well you get the game (meh) and the expansion packs (meh x 2) and then you get Portal...(bigger Meh...a game where all you do is make holes in the space time continuM) and...the coup de gras...Team Fortress 2...this is the reason we were all debating it but i ain't spending £50 on 5 games when i only want the online part of it...i spent £20 of warhawk and that was a great buy...but £50 on an over-rated, generic, FPS...i don't think so.

Gabe may be a sucka*s but thats his prerogative...personally i think he's the perfect kinda guy to work for Valve...loves and lives his PC and thats about it...C'mon guys, we have Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Eye of Judgment, Uncharted, Call of Duty 4 (which apparently looks "better on PS3"...gamesrader it think) and a whole slew of other amazing games from developers who seem to care about the 6 million and growing PS3 owners there are around the world.

Final point...Think about it, if gabe says it's not worth programming for PS3 because they won't get a decent return on the higher costs and then no-one buys the game...then they won't make anymore PS3 games...he's trying to cause the outcome he wants...

in fact, he hates next-gen because of the costs of development. he likes last gen especially with PS2 and Xbox...Wii is the only exception for him this gen because of it's low speced hardware and PS2/Xbox like graphics.

I was going to buy this, game was looking forward to it, and this guy's comments probably would not have changed my mind about buying it.  But I had no idea that EA was making the version for ps3, and EA isn't very good as it is, I'm definitely going to think twice now, Probably won't get it.

These sort of games play better on PC anyway. I'm playing the new Team Fortress now and cant imagine playing it on a console anyway...

Guys PS3 is going to have a small library this time around but not everyone has to go out and buy a 360 to have a good time. I dont plan to - instead I suppliment my console with a PC - combined they give me a very good choice of games & online options.
