Alright, it appears that Green Day won't be getting its own Rock Band game -- at least not yet.

A press release sent today from MTV announced a collaboration between Green Day and Rock Band; several hits from the punk-rock band will be coming to Harmonix's music game. The first downloadable pack, coming July 7, will include the songs 21 Guns, Know Your Enemy, East Jesus Nowhere.

“Green Day not only rock hard, but are also epic storytellers,” said Van Toffler, President of MTV Networks, Music, LOGO and Film. “Their message and their music have been the voice and sound of this generation. The addition of Green Day is a huge victory for MTV and our audience, and marks another landmark in our efforts to bring the best artists to Rock Band.”

"We are excited to be working with MTV and Harmonix,” said Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong. “They are leaders and visionaries in the world of music and video games, and Rock Band is a really cool way for fans of all ages to experience our music.”

Once again, the first Green Day Rock Band pack will arrive on July 7, 2009. More content will be announced at a later date.

Now the Rock Band fans can enjoy simulating nearly-40-year-old men still wearing makeup and talking loudly through their nose and pretending to hate the commercialism they use for success.

Thank God they arent getting their own game.  Mindless, repetitive, recycled, uninspired so called punk music.  The difficulty would be a joke in itself, just like their so called 'punk image'.

Really? 21st Century is their most elaborate and varied album yet in terms of structure and sound. It's certainly not "punk" anymore, but who cares?

And what does the difficulty for Rock Band have to do with the quality of their music? Just because they don't stick guitar solos in there?

And who cares how they look?

Surely songs such as twinkle twinkle little star would be more challenging
