Online retailer Play.com has posted a listing for the limited edition gunmetal PlayStation 3 console on its website, despite yesterday's comments from Konami insisting that this particular model would not be available in PAL regions.

According to the website, the 40GB special edition console contains a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, though it neglects to reveal any further info, including a price and availability.

This directly conflicts with Konami’s statement yesterday morning, where the publisher revealed that it would not be offering such a deal in the UK.

Hopefully we’ll be able to shed some light on this development in the coming days.

UPDATED:

Play has since commented, "The Gun Metal PlayStation 3 is being removed from pre-order," reaffirming that there will definitely not be any such product available in the UK.
