Sony Computer Entertainment CEO and president Kazuo Hirai has confirmed that 3.4 million PS3 owners have downloaded PlayStation Home following the launch of the service last year.

Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show yesterday, Hirai also revealed that the firm has shifted millions of content via the online social platform, including avatar clothing, furniture, social club licences and many more.

Check out our previous coverage of Sony’s CES presentation here, which includes figures for both PlayStation Network and LittleBigPlanet among others.

    @4

    Thats funny because whenever I enter home it is always packed. I imagine that the people that were let down had the wrong expectations of home in the first place.

    I downloaded it, tried it out, but being that it's very limited right now, I haven't logged on in a while.  If they add more social stuff to it and make it something that I want to mess with every day, like Facebook, then I would use it more often.

    @5: nah we expected to be able to watchstuff off the harddrive, customise our people for free and actually be able to play some of the games. home is bare, expensive and apart from talking to people, pointless really. its nice and all to have a free bowling game and a free pool table but... when we get promised the world (metaphorically) and all the features get taken out, sure we're let down. Home was not worth however much it cost them to develop. and taking away voice chat?!?! i thought features were meant to be added, not stripped. where's that bravia that phil showed 2 years ago? wheres the game related stuff? resistance wallpapers etc. nah, we just got some diesel jeans you pay £2 for.

    like others, i like it and it has great potential. but since it is bare and pretty boring i don't go on very often. but i think this will all change in time. we just have to be patient... i think once the EA Sports Complex is released(in Spring) then much more developers and such will see the potential and Home will become way more recognised, then the FUN will begin! so i really think that EA Sports is going to REALLY KICK OFF Home. hopefully. ALSO, i really wish they would add the features that were said to be available in Home like: sharing anything on your Hard Drive (pictures, music, videos)... plus the Hall of Fame for your Trophies... PLUS what happened to game starting(or whatever it's called)?! i don't know about you guys but i can't start games up yet with friends in Home. well lets HOPE that Home turns out a success. i think it will... but i guess only with time.

    Wow, so 3.4 million people have had the singularly unique experience of walking around doing absolutely nothing? Nice.

    How many of those 3.4 million people used Home more than once... I'm guessing that wouldn't be a number to brag about. I was in the "closed" beta thanks to dude on the forum, and i thought it wasn't bad. Mainly because im sick of hearing about potential, i thought after the 'beta' becomes open they may actually improve, but not really. Also am i the only one that thinks they are using the word 'beta' to cover their asses.

    It's still a beta people. And when it's "complete" it's going to bigger, better and far more intressting to visit.

    wat do tou expect from it its not a gam e its a social gaming network where you can go and meet friends if they wanted to make it fun they should have made it like the sims now that would be cool

    Yeah, home is pretty worthless unless you just want to chit chat &/or add people to your friends list for gaming. I think I'll go uninstall it now.
