In-Game XMB Overlay Coming In The Next Update

It seems that Sony is always listening to us, and that their "we are listening to the consumers and we care for them" is a true sentence indeed, spoken by Ericl Lempel. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. confirmed that an In-Game XMB Overlay is coming in the Next Major Update (you all know what I'm getting at). Yes everyone, you heard it at PSU first. In-Game XMB Overlay will be in the next update, but we don't know to what extent.
In a rather exhausting and relieving way, Ericl Lempel said, "Also, I noticed a lot of your comments were directly related to accessing XMB features in-game. We understand this is something you want and we are working on it. For the sake of keeping all the comments below on topic, please understand that we hear this request and are working toward a solution. When I have some more info to share on this, know that I will do so here on this blog."
The response came shortly after a user named "DarkKing" Spammed about 255 topics all consisting of a repetition of the following from top to bottom:
"WE WANT IN-GAME XMB AND CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS SONY YOU SAID YOU CARED
WE WANT IN-GAME XMB AND CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS SONY YOU SAID YOU CARED
WE WANT IN-GAME XMB AND CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS SONY YOU SAID YOU CARED" (These have since been removed).
Looks like Sony promised, and they have half-way delivered with Wallpapers. Coming next major update, PlayStation 3 owners will glee with happiness everyday when they can finally access their Foo Fighters / Children of Bodom albums in Motorstorm. I sure as heck know, I will.

That all sounds GREAT! However, I'm guessing that being able to play your own selected music during game play via the XMB will probably cut out any sound effects the game may have unfortunately. It would be better if game makers built this directly into their games already, so you could choose tracks from your the hard drive that you wanted to play during gameplay. That's one of the things I was looking forward to when I bought my PS3, I expected game makers to take advantage of the music stored on the hard drive and was disappointed when Motorstorm didn't... I'm hoping Motorstorm 2 does!

Well Sony, if you are listening, I would request a video return function where if you leave a blu-ray movie (or other video), your place is saved. Then when you return to the movie, you can start where you left off. This is common with many DVD players and is a no-brainer addition for the PS3. I know you have your hands full, but this would be a great and relatively easy update. Updates RULE!

This is great news, indeed!!! I knew Sony would come through on this promise. The problem is no one has any patience. I do, so it never bothered me. I'd rather they take their time and get it right than release a "bugged-filled" firmware update. Kudos to Sony. Keep the goodness coming!!

I think everyone shoud stop demanding for stuff. Sony is working on alot of stuff right now, and they dont need people breathing down their necks demanding for features. They know what we want, so we dont have to keep asking. Especially that guy who posted 255 topics. (dude sony wont listen to you because your an ### to them.) Anyways nice to see XMB in game coming to PS3!

Wait wait wait... I read that and I dont ever remember him saying it'll be in the next update. they said they're WORKING on it, that dosent confirm anything about it happening in the next update at all. For all we know they could have been working on it for the last 4 updates and still having trouble implementing it.

@Lp47PS3 Are you working with sony? Do you know for a fact that they dont have enough time to do some extra things? And youre wrong, sony doesent always know what we want, we should have had this feature right out of the box, if the 360 can do it, then the ps3 should be able to do it a thousand times better. People need to demand companies for more features, thats how they better their products idiot. @everyone else who says "we dont need this feature, its useless" Please just shut up. Why do you hate things that will make a console better? You may be some of the few people who dont like to listen to music while youre playing a game, but most of us do want that feature. I dont understand why some people hate improvement, even when it has no effect on the current features.

Retarded... to say these features SHOULD have been in when it first launched suggests that you think Sony are mind readers. Not ever feature the 36* has is worth having on the PS3, if you want 36* features go buy one. That's not to say I'm not happy about them working on bringing some of these features over but to think they should know every single feature we want based on some other console is ridiculous and childish.

@richkaos Thats absolutely wrong. On the Xbox 360 sound effects are not cut out when you play music. Even better, when character dialog comes up, or cutscenes and such, the music volume is lowered automatically so that you can easily hear the important stuff. If Microsoft can put it into their system which eventually gets the RROD, then I KNOW Sony can do it. Leaving it up to the game developers is also a horrible idea. That would probably be the most unreliable system. If we get it from Sony, that means we can play our music in-game, no matter what game were playing. We dont have to worry about whether or not the game developers put the work in. Also, with Sony doing it, you would have a system you would be familiar with, instead of game developers coming up with a myriad of custom soundtrack systems, that in the end are just gambles. Just...no. Sony is where we need it to come from.

I need confirmation. I can't find anything in the Playstation Blog saying that this will happen on the NEXT update. Please provide a link. We don't want to see another "Firmware 2.0" fiasco.
