Today is a Sunday, that much is sure. The Leipzig madness has come to a halt, and there's absolutely nothing going on. We've dug into the depths of last week to find a piece of news we missed, and surprisingly, this seemed to be the only one.
Killzone 2 will have bots. Pretty exciting stuff, eh? They'll be available in both offline and online matches, with an adjustable difficulty level to boot. What won't in be present in multiplayer (initially) are vehicles. They're already in the single-player campaign, and are set to be patched into multiplayer after the game's launch. Another aspect that will be added in post-launch is campaign cooperative play. It's unknown whether this will be a paid add-on or a free addition (or if it'll be online co-op), but Guerrilla did offer some free DLC for Killzone: Liberation on the PSP. Whatever the outcome, we're glad it's coming in some form or another.
Killzone 2 will be available in February 2009.

I'm actually pretty excited to hear there'll be bots. There are two things that are missing in most games now days: bots and split screen. I can understand those things may just be very demanding of a consoles resources so from a hardware standpoint keeping them out, but I've had endless fun with split-screen in old medal of honor games and red faction.

It's in good fun :). Seriously though, putting co-op into a game isn't as simple as "let's put another guy in there that another person can control." It takes a LOT of programming, bug fixing and so on that adds a massive amount of man hours to the development schedule. Yeah, I'm a bit surprised it won't make it into the game in time for launch in February, but there's no way you could just add it in a week. If you could, every game would have co-op.

Splitscreen is absolutely atrocious for a game. They have to dumb it down so that the system will be able to process nearly two times the physics, AI, animations, the works. Online is the way to go with friends with co-op. If you want to play with your friends at your house, go LAN. Other than that, splitscreen is just a burden on everything. Besides, who wants to play on half a TV screen?
People may not agree with me on this one, but it's the truth - especially with a game like Killzone 2, as processing intensive as it already is, splitscreen just isn't going to work. If it's not making it into the game at launch (which it obviously isn't) I don't think it's even possible to add it in a patch. Of course, they'll be able to add online co-op, which is absolutely great, and I can't wait.
GG is really taking all the directions that will make this game the perfect FPS.

old but good news! bots and offline matches. it's starting to sound like my favourite game of all time: killzone. i'm glad they kept those features. i hope you can play offline 2 player split-screen matches with bots. than the game will simply be perfect just like it's predecessors.

@16 Your obviously are not a hardcore gamer!!! lol Bots are computer controlled enemy or team mates, so its like playing with a friend thats not really there......you put them into a match and they basically act as a filler!!! They used to be very popular with the first Perfect Dark for N64....haven't seen them in many games lately tho....

@ 11
LOL, you don't need to simulate physics and AI twice...the two players would be in the same level, all the processing still only needs to be done once. Why simulate the exact same thing twice...doesn't make sense'

if i remember corectly, didn't they say the game was finished. the only reason for a 2009 launch was so they didn't bump head with R2, if thats truly the case they have time to put everything in. Could sony have been lying to us again, knowing them <<< Heck YES>>>
