Killzone 3 rumors emerge once again

According to the folks at Eurogamer.de (via VG247), Guerrilla Games’ Jan-Bart Van Beek recently let slip on a Dutch TV that the firm is working on a successor to Killzone 2 and is targeting a 2011 release for the project.

Van Beek apparently claimed that the game might be released in 2010, though added there is no pressure from Sony Europe to have the sequel on store shelves for next year.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors of Killzone 3’s existence, either. Just last month, word reached the Internet that OPM US confirmed the game’s development alongside heavyweights Resistance 3 and a sequel to Call of Duty: World at War.

Obviously, we advise our readers to take this with a pinch of salt until we hear otherwise. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available to us.

ewe... really sequel to cod W@W... come treyarch give it up... you are horrible at making games. i recently went back to W@W after finishing 10th prestige on COD4 and went back after only a few matches.

Honestly i love WWII and i am a big WWII history buff but treyarch just makes me sick with he way they made it... i know of a lot better games than W@W for WWII.

But sweet. those other ones look pretty sweet

@4: fair to say youre not a fan of world at war, but i love this game. i tried modern warfare 1 and went back to world at war 1 week later

so by your logic infinity ward are also "horrible at making games"...

no, i will still be getting modern warfare 2, but just because you didnt enjoy a game doesnt make the developers 'horrible'.

Treyarch does completely suck at making games. Cod 3 was horrible, and WaW was not far behind

As far as fun goes, World at War held my attention a lot more than Modern Warfare. I look forward to World at War 2. Also, Killzone 3 should look even better than the first.

2011 please. Hopefully they will have a more colourful environment, as I liked Killzone 2, but I would love to see a Killzone game in environment like Uncharted. It would look awesome.

    Resistance and WaW2 should be Q3 2010, and Killzone 3 Q2 2011

since GG have the engine built, i ecpect kz3 to be a masterpiece. kz2 was brilliant, but i get the feeling they could have done more without deadlines

World at War probably to me was better than COD4 in single player mode but online its not as good as the maps that COD4 had. Killzone 3 i can't wait for it to be announce at E3 next year thats if the rumors of Killzone 3 are true. Resistance 3 I can see getting announced as Insomniac Games are done with Ratchet franchise for now.

I'll try KZ3 demo.  I tried the second one thought it was cool but then thought it was good but way too overrated.   I'm hoping KZ3 will have a more addicting multiplayer as well as a better single-player campaign.

    • 8:52pm GMT - November 9th, 2009

It must suck for the people at Treyarch that make COD games, knowing they are just there to make games during the year that IW is not, and also knowing that their game won't even sell half as many copies as the IW game.   But I guess that's what they get for making a game like Call of Duty 3.

I hope they learn from their mistakes, don't try to make the gameplay too "realistic" by giving heavier controls. Totally ruined the online multiplayer, though I did spend a lot of time getting used to the controls and became pretty good, I didn't find it half as addictvive as MW1.

Good news! As long as they fix the horrible controls I will buy it day one.

the graphics were very close to the e3 demo, if you consider the cinematic running and stuff, it wasn't far off

Ok to everyone like stef123 Killzone 3 is highly possible to come out in 2011 (not so much 2010). The reason Killzone 2 took sooooo long to come out was because they had to build the engine from the ground up. Now that the engine is finished they can make games a lot faster with it now. And no there wont be enviroments like Uncharted 2 because Killzone's style is grity and dull.

I'm thinking it'll be more like Killzone 2.5. It'll have the same look and gameplay, just a different story.

I hope this time they FIX the gameplayt!!! KZ2 is slow paced and that sucks.

I can't wait to see what Killzone 3 looks like... I mean seriously, just a few weeks after Killzone 2 was released they released that bullet time demo that showcased some things that didn't quite make it into the final product of Killzone 2 that practically made it look like a cgi movie. I wonder how much closer to that old CGI video they'll get :D.  I played some Killzone 2 today, and re-realized how awesome it is... the online can be a blast at times.

    @35

that is not going to happen. I can guarantee you that 100%. Because they have their own engine which took years to develop and it looks awesome and can easily compare to the console version of Cry Engine 2. The next Far Cry will come along with this engine perhaps.

I liked W@W more than MW to be honest. So for me, another one won't be bad. Besides, some of the people on my friends list are still playing it so that more than proves that Treyarch can handle a CoD game. Enough with the hate-wagon already because the games they produce are fully functional as intended.

All I got to say about R3 is: Bring it the he11 on!

As far as Killzone 3 goes, let's hope they see fit to reproduce/remaster the first Killzone like they're doing with the GoW franchise. They already made revisioned maps from the first, why not the whole thing? I'd be there day 1.
