Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has said that he already starting to consider plans for a fifth instalment in the popular stealth franchise, despite claims that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be his last contribution in the series.

Speaking in the latest issue of Japan’s Famitsu magazine, Kojima commented, “I gotta start thinking about MGS5... Even though, well, Snake's story ends in MGS4."

“...About MGS5, that would be something that Kojima Productions would have to make, I think.”

Although it is common knowledge that MGS4 is to be the last in the series featuring Solid Snake, Konami recently hinted that it is likely there would be future Metal Gear titles, though Kojima's involvement in any future projects was believed to have been ruled out following previous comments indicating he wishes to move on from the franchise.

We’ll bring you more on Konami’s plans for the Metal Gear Solid series as soon as they become available.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is due out exclusively on PS3 on June 12, 2008.

why does kojima do this he should end it with mgs4 there is no need for another mgs game.  now there just milking out the franchize i hope it will be good if he does i dont like the fact of no snake in a mgs game like mgs2

lets wait and see if MGS4 is as good as we all hope and then maybe we would want a 5. But for some reason, way out in left field here, if this game doesnt live up to the hype, we might not really want a 5.

Someone under him will most likely be doing it if his focus will be on the next ZOE3 (hopefully).

He is now Dr. Frankenstein.  Controlled by his creation...which is great, by the way.

Mmm...Nice to see there will be more MGS with the Kojima touch, although it will be very strange without Snake.

But then, it could also open it up to more possibilities in gameplay etc.

You have to wonder though if he felt pressured to do this...we already know he wanted to do other things and I wonder if he still will do those things?

so long as snakes story feels complete to me, another game set in the MGs world would not be bad at all. I mean come on guys, the gameplay is unrivaled.

Honestly Kojima shouldn't end snake in Metal Gear 4 but also Kojima can't leave the very franchise that made him the "MAN"  Im sure that  there would be loose ends in MGS4 that would tie into the fifth installment

Truly sad that it's an end of an era. Countless hours controlling Snake will come to an end. Then again, Kojima could always do another past-tense title featuring Snake. Hey, I can dream.

Seems like they are trying to hype people about that it's the last game just to get buyers!

He will never leave series fully he will always be part of metal gear. He will also start on other ventures as well. Im okay with another MG as long as its good.

Maybe it'll be called Metal Gear Seniors! Where all the characters are stealthy seniors trying to bust out of a quarentined nursing home.

psn id: gingo.... hopefully the mgs series stays exclusive to playstation but i fear it will become multiplatform even though it would lower the quality of the product it would reap rewards in revenue

Best way to end a series is the way of a tragedy, following suit, the hero must die and conclude the whole story.

it will be more cool if his son will take the place of Snake... MGS games for along time and I don't think that MGS series should end.  just every 2 years or something.

WTF, I wish this dude would make up his mind once and for all. I think he has got some sort of suprise up his sleeve, lots of "hints" the snake will most probably die, isn't that giving the story away? Why would he this? Where else has someone given away, that the hero of a game or movie will die before it has even been released?

Jaffe and Borlog both helped out with God of War even after they left SCEA Santa Monica.

i think they should remake metal gear 1 and 2 you know the ones on the ninitendo and msx systems that follow big boss that would be tight or one that tells the games story from liquids perspective like a metal gear axis type game where you play as the bad guys
