Hideo Kojima has finally cleared up speculation surrounding Metal Gear Solid 4 and its protagonist after speaking to a crowded Konami game showcase audience recently. Mr. Kojima revealed that the latest Metal Gear Solid game would indeed be the "final episode" for Solid Snake
With high expectations of himself as well as from the gaming community, Mr. Kojima finally will get the chance to take a sigh of relief as he explained, "Designing [Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online] was quite a task, and I'm relieved for the moment," he said to the crowd. As part of his speech, he let fans of the series know that MGS4 represented the "grand finale" for the 20-year old series, as well as the "final episode of the Solid Snake saga" and "Snake's final mission."
Those that have followed Mr. Kojima's words in the past know that this does not necessarily mean the end for the Metal Gear franchise, but could mean the end of the line for our hero Solid Snake.
To make sure that all those in attendance understood him and that there would be nothing lost in translation Mr. Kojima even recited his speech for the audience, reiterating that this would be the final chapter for Solid Snake.
Kojima appeared extremely proud of the fact that MGS4 will be the first Metal Gear game to enjoy a simultaneous worldwide launch in the U.S., Japan, and Europe. "I hope your time with Solid Snake has been precious," he said.

I think ending snakes story and starting a new is perfect. they better keep the same quality though. If I have a crippled metal gear experience, EVER, due to multiplatform development, I'm marching over to konami, solid snake-ing my way in, and CQCing every mofo I can find.

Isn't Kojima quitting game development, anyway? He said he'll maybe still work as a... what was that... consultant... but as far as actually being something like Producer[slash]Director[slash]Lead Designer... he's out. A new Metal Gear game will not be under Hideo Kojima. He wants to pursue other endeavours that he hasn't had the time to because of the gaming world.

Keep in mind for all you slow peeps (REFLEX, looking at you!) this is the end of Solid Snakes story, it does not mean the end of Metal Gear...I know most of you understand this clearly, but some are slow.

i knew snakes story would end and a new story will begin. possibly a new clone. seeing that there has been pics of those chicken eggs marked solid and liquid and sunny sitting near them, maybe sunny will play a part in the new charachter. but, will be cool to hear more news about the new game when E3 starts. 15 days left in this month. those 11 days in june will go fast. just keep busy. i got a wedding to go to on the 6th and be back on the 8 that gives me about two days to plan to go get MGS4. im not opening my door for anyone when i get it
