Konami has revealed that it has been working closely with retailers to ensure that the street date of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 is not broken prior to its launch on June 12, confirming that retailers have supplied written agreements ensuring that the date is honoured "no matter what."
Speaking with MCV, Konami’s UK General Manager, Pete Stone, commented: "We pride ourselves on working closely with retailers and have a continuation of the singed agreement system we used so successfully before.”
"All major retailers are supplying written agreements that they will honour the street date no matter what, making it a level playing field across the board. We all want the game to be a huge success, and for everyone to benefit from this release."
Furthermore, Stone revealed that the publisher has taken steps to ensure there is enough stock to meet demand, adding, "With demand for MGS4 at such a high level, I am delighted to confirm that we are continually manufacturing stock to meet the phenomenal demand.”
“We want to make sure that everyone gets a good allocation of what is the key PS3 title of the year.”
Stay tuned.

So does that mean the first to play feature that you get when you pre order with GAME is out the window? thats one of the main reasons i buy from GAME, and the fact that along with loyalty points and vouchercodes it works out cheaper. We will see!!!
I bet I can get it a day earlier.. A guy who works in GAME near me always let's me get them a day early.
Nice to know that that there's less chance some guy will be rubbing it in our face on youtube lol
even I know I can get it early, I will still honor the real date of MGS 4 release
sweet ! thank you konami! i bet konami will sue someone if the release the ending on youtube if they happen to get it ome how the entire game i mean.
HA! I done got my copy. THIS GAME ROCKS!
JK
@bracomadar nice 1. i still dont think any1 can beat this in a day and post it on youtube.
psn id: gingo.... i hope retailers do keep the release date bcos it ruins the game is sum idiot goes and tells everyone the whole plot and how it ends
"We pride ourselves on working closely with retailers and have a continuation of the singed agreement system we used so successfully before.”
They have a "singed" agreement? What tune do they "sing" it to? :) Or do they mean it's a "singed" agreement as in burned? Is Konami hinting that the may retailers sign a pact with the devil in order to sell their games? Oh...the horrors! :)
@ gingo
One or two days isnt going to make a whole lot of difference there. You also have the option of NOT listening to people spoiling the game, NOT browsing the topics that discuss it, NOT watching the YouTube videos, so this really isnt much of a problem.
I'm stil willing to bet my Play.com LE will arrive a day early...always does, just like my copy of GTA IV
Bah! nothing but hot air! Store employees will get their own copies and play them as soon as they arrive, some will no doubt give copies to their friends early to... Konami over looks the fact that most of these guys that work in video game stores arnt qualified, honnorful pros but random gamer joes...
why is it then that I see some guy on gametrailers un packing his! once a really nice video games store clurk used to do the same for me but war has change ...
PSN ID: tatti...........
Damn straight.
Konami did the right thing.
good news because im waiting for shipping date
I really hope this one doesn't end up "Halo 3'd" with a spoiled ending.
