Speaking on the official PlayStation Blog, Sony has confirmed that its forthcoming Life with PlayStation service will be released some time in August 2008.
First unveiled at Sony’s E3 press conference last month, Life with PlayStation was originally scheduled to launch by the end of July; however, due to “a few procedural matters,” the service will now be rolled out later this month.
Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Senior Development Manager, Noam Rimon, commented:
“Rest assured, Life with PlayStation will be a service that introduces a new way to interact with your PS3. By bringing information from around the world into your living room, Life with PlayStation will offer a variety of interactive content and channels on a visually stunning worldwide map interface.”
“We’re focused on continuously expanding the world of PS3 through new services and hope to do just that with the upcoming launch of Life with PlayStation.”
Stay tuned for more developments as they become available.

The first E3 promise/ hype Sony's balked on. I'm sure it's only the beginning. They sure can do an electronics show, but when deadlines come, well...

I know! They know how to work a crowd with the goods, but when they talk about due dates its like a high schooler who didnt finish his report ...well I meant to have it in today but I was sick , give me til next week. Next week comes...I apologize but my dog ate my report therefore I have to delay it til next week for sure. The NEXT week comes, Its done but I think it can be even BETTER give me one last week. Last week, here you go teacher hope you like it. I wanted this a month ago, TOO LATE not interested. -

@13
Honestly though, I'd use it. I mean, there it is on my PS3, you know. I never turn the thing off anymore. I do like the never-ending features of the PS3, I was just commenting on the fact that Sony has a habit of using electronic floor shows to tell everyone what their concepts are on the drawing board, and having everyone wait millenia to get their hands on it. To me, it was a HUGE surprise when their video service started THE WEEK OF E3! But they haven't updated it content much have they. They have until I run out of The Unit episodes to watch, lol.

honestly hardly anyone is hitting their launch dates any more. I remember last year or the GDC before that they were having a discussion on "how to hit your release dates" I guess the entire industry missed it. Not just Sony but all the third parties and peripheral makers as well.

So is this kinda like the channels on the Wii? If it is for all the blasting that the Wii gets for not being a "next generation console" the PS3 sure wants to be like it. Fist the new remote and now this. I love my PS3 and my Wii, but why can't you come up with new things. If I am completely wrong then I appoligize.

@25 and everyone else saying its a "stolen" Please use your brain before you type next time. If you really think that having news and weather on a console is stealing, then please be happy that you have a choice in anything you get, be it cereal, cars, bikes, book, VIDEO GAMES.
I can just see it way back when the Odyssey came out, the pong guys were like " Hey our idea is better!, oh crap someone else has something similar so we better not even try. Think first please!
