New Agency intel in - First Trailer

After recent comments from John Smedley about how MMOs are the future of console gaming, it seems fitting to be able to bring you the world premiere trailer for The Agency. The Agency is an upcoming title for Sony Online Entertainment and we've included the video below for your viewing pleasure. Leave your impressions in the comment section as always and enjoy.

@ The first poster * WHY?! It's a Team Fortress-like MMoRPG(ish) game. This is the next big thing. I'm sorry your limited vision and western gamer tastes keep you from seeing that, but th rest of us will still have fun without you. This trailer shows no gameplay (so I can see your point in a way), so read th IGN articles about this game, you'll see. I've been on this game for a year. There is some EARLY gameplay video at IGN (and it looked fun all the way back then). Make sure you read the description of gameplay. I knew the first dev that expanded on COD4's "perk" concept would have a major hit...and The Agency is that game. The whole game revolves around getting cool stuff for your character. Go, go watch it.

Like I told the other guy, if you don't know this game, look up the OLD articles on IGN. This trailer shows nothing.

I do want to comment that even though admittedly the trailer shows no gameplay, message board types are some of the most narrow-minded, short-sighted people on the planet. At any rate, by the time this hits shelves, I know I'll see you all online. I think this will be one of those games delayed 15 times though (not much of a prediction, as that's easy to believe).

EDIT-- The trailer does show gameplay, but nothing that wasn't in the demo at one of the video game trade shows last year. But the there's a video out there where one of the (dorkier) devs of the game actually walks through a chapter of the game.

The fact that it's free is a down side to me, though. I'd rather pay for constant maintenence. I'm excited about the game, but there's no hiding SOE's MMoRPG record with PC games guys. Personally, I think there's more at stake here, and they know this HAS to be good. But if there was no PS3 in exsistance and this was just another PC game coming, I'd skip it.

I would rather not think of mmo's as the future of console gaming. Its the reason the pc platform isnt as appealing as consoles.

That's a fair critism, so I won't retaliate with a snide remark or anything. I just hate to see people poop on things with no knowledge (especially when they can enjoy it). I look at all the hype Haze got from fans and that game (even BEFORE the demo) looked and sounded weak conceptually. Then the demo (which I played, because I didn't PRE-JUDGE) confirmed that. I am hipping everyone to a game that I knew is off most people's radar, that I think is becoming something special, that's it. This trailer doesn't do the concept justice.

Anyway, I'm not all that interested in MMO games, and it doesn't look all that appealing to me. I'll keep an eye on it though. Not.

Sigh. A few year's back, I would have tried to explain myself. But I don't owe anything to some hypocrite on a message board. I don't bother responding to the "People-who-don't-agree-with-me-are-stupid" types, especially since the only reason you posted was because I nailed you dead bang, as you proved with the above sentence. Did you notice that your post wasn't even about The Agency? You took time to post to me. That line at the end (that proved you were who I said you were) wasn't even about the game. It was still about me. If someone who you can't see can control you like that...Jesus. You can't live the rest of you life like that. It will be hard on you. And I'll bet $1,000 you've seen that already. Good luck, kid (at least, I hope you're still a kid...you shouldn't act like that otherwise).

Well normally i dont go for mmo's simply due to the fact that i dont have a great pc for em (not too fond of pc games neways) but if this is going to be released for ps3 (ie not cancelled) then i will def pick this up. Anyone know if the release date are the same for both PS3 and PC?

ppl are forgeting this game is still in early development stages, i hope they do more progress in gameplay it looks intresting though
