MTV Entertainment has revealed that heavy metal group Metallica has reserved the right to premier their latest single as a downloadable track in the Harmonix-developed title, Rock Band.
The company stated that the group has already signed for their involvement in the title, though details on possible pricing, availability or even the name of the song are currently unknown.
Speaking to Rocky Mountain News, MTV’s Paul DeGooyer commented, "There are a couple of things we've committed to, one of them with Metallica for example.”
"They've reserved the right to give us their first single from their new album for the game."
Formed in 1981, Metallica has gone on to define the thrash metal genre, becoming one of the most commercially successful metal bands on the planet, with worldwide record sales surpassing the 90 million mark.

"becoming one of the most commercially successful metal bands on the planet, with worldwide record sales surpassing the 90 million mark." Ok, with numbers like these I can't see why any bands would have a problem. I'm thankful Metallica is going along with the "digital" age finally. Hopefully they'll put some downloadable tracks on guitar hero????

I've been a big Metallica fan since the 80's. I hope this new track and their new album coming out soon will be more like the good ol' days.

Good to see an entry way to our wallets for a washed up metal band that hasnt been good since the 90s. I would rather buy their old stuff than pay money for a crap new song. C'mon Metallica... We all know you sold out. . . This is just rediculous.
