There have been many GTA clones since the release of GTA III back in Fall 2001. Titles such as The Getaway and True Crimes have all been rewarding in their own way, but it was the title Saints Row that really did the better job of using GTA III elements and adding new ones in, giving innovation to the sandbox shooter genre.
Unsurprisingly, Saints Row was released to critical and commercial success, so it was inevitable that a sequel was only just around the corner. That said, it is now time to bring forth some of the initial details for the game that could possibly set further innovation for Rockstar to consider with a possible GTA V.
The initial list of new features for Saints Row 2 is as follows:
-Game set in a city 45% larger than the original
-New vehicles such as Motorbikes, Jet-skis, speedboats, planes and helicopters
-Use hostages as human shields
-Dual-wield weapons
-Use items from environment as melee weapons
Enhanced character creation that allows you to chose your sex of male, female, or transsexual (Yes, we are not joking here. Rupal is a possibility)
-New Co-op mode that allows gamers to play through the single player story with a buddy.
Looks like one hell of a game. GTA IV will introduce online multiplayer so to stay with the standards, hopefully Saints Row 2 will support online play as well. With that out of the way, do you feel compelled to give Saints Row 2 a go when it arrives on store shelves next year? Talk it over in our forums and let us know.

Are you kidding me? Did you ever play the first one? I was just as absorbed by Saints Row as I was by San Andreas, if not more so. It sucks it wasn't released on PS3 though. I can't wait for the sequel!
like the sound of co-op main story, been waiting for Rockstar to do this with GTA !

Muzikguy ... it was pointles for them to waste time making the first one instead of focusing on making the second better... first one was reall good so im hyped about this nex one specialy with all the new things that was mentioned on top .. cant wait!!

I wonder just how far they'll take the ability to choose your sex. I mean the story will have to accomodate the fact that some people will be playing as a woman, will relationships within the story change? will there be a sudden rise in Lesbianism? will gays feel left out that they can't have their character kiss a man? the mind boggles at the possible questions raised!

Transsexual haha.. nice. Looks like Saints Row 2 will try and retain the less serious approach this time, and GTA IV will be heading in the opposite direction - taking things a little more serious than before. Which is cool either way, but i'm looking forward to both of them.
I liked the 1st one tho i did like GTA more due to the story and the stuff but the 2nd one should be good aswell but once GTA comes out im keeping that one :)
The first game is fun and can't wait to play SR2 :) but GTA is still the best (!)

It sucks for the devs and publishers that I won't be getting this. If only they'd bring the first one to PS3, then I would reconsider. But until then, I won't buy any game sequels that started life elsewhere where I would have to buy a different console just to experience it. just to get the earlier installment or backstory (Saints Row 2, Condemned 2) Am I missing anything else?)
